Well, the 2024 transfer portal memories are still fresh with college football fans. Now it’s time for another one. Already, news started to drop in that would leave you on the edge of your seats. And guess whose name already caught the hype? It’s none other than Steve Sarkisian’s QB Quinn Ewers. The Longhorns are all geared up to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the upcoming Cotton Bowl, but already the discussion about Ewers leaving Sarkisian’s hood has peaked. Going by the hush-hush, a particular CFP team has now dedicated themselves to Mission Quinn Ewers. That’s when a college football insider gave the real picture.
It was obvious that Ewers would be a top-tier 2025 NFL Draft prospect. After all, he came as the clear-cut star quarterback. However, there have been many roadblocks, plagued with injuries, and his season did not go quite as planned. Maybe for this, he could consider returning for one more year of college football. As per the On3 Sports reports, Ewers is ranked as the No. 9 NIL earner among all college football players valued at $2.8 million. At the same time, he might command as much as $6 million in NIL deals if he decides to transfer. On his podcast, Dan Patrick shared, “Quinn Ewers may be playing at Notre Dame next year.”

He continued, “Why would you go to the pros? You can make $6 million playing; he’s going to make what a quarterback taken in the top 10 would make. Imagine you win a National Title and they say thanks Quinn we got Arch here ready to go.” Yeah, that’s where Ewers finds himself now, and he might work on his charm to hopefully land with the Fighting Irish. And here comes another rumor that Marcus Freeman is going to lose Riley Leonard. But before you get too excited about the Ewers x Notre Dame collab, Patrick dropped some inside scoop.
“I asked my college football source and they said Notre Dame thought that was too rich for them. $6 million for Quinn Ewers,” confirmed the analyst. Well, we get it. Freeman’s program runs as independent without the conference privilege. So shelling out such a grand sum of money might be a risky move. In that case, Ewers has enough options.
The market stays hot for Quinn Ewers
NFL Draft expert Todd McShay advised Ewers to try out some other options. Thinking that the grass might be greener for the QB on the other side, he suggested, “I think Quinn Ewers would benefit… I think playing more, different environment, getting out of Austin, different system, could bring out the best in him.” Now that the confusion is over and the dust has settled, Ewers market is still running high. If Notre Dame is out of the list, here are two more options that the Longhorns QB can consider switching to.

The first one is Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels. The HC is now on a scouting mission to find their next big quarterback. Now that Jaxson Dart is heading to the NFL, Ole Miss will be in dire need of a proven playmaker. But what would make Ewers the ultimate fit in the Rebels? Well, Sarkisian’s signal-caller is known for his explosive arm and ability to stretch the field. Plus, since Ewers is looking for an opportunity to shine, the Ole Miss’ deep roster of talented pass-catchers will be the catalyst.

On the flip side, looks like Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes can also land Quinn Ewers. Now that Cam Ward will be bidding farewell and Emory Williams is unlikely to be the answer, the Hurricanes HC might go into panic mode. In that case, a player of a high caliber like Ewers would bring in the firepower for Miami to compete against Clemson, the SMU Mustangs, and Louisville. So the options are plenty for Ewers!
