Once upon a time, Nick Saban praised Alabama’s new staff member ” he is an outstanding football coach who is well respected across the country in terms of his knowledge of the game, his reputation as a teacher, and his ability to recruit.” It was a long time ago when Saban was talking about Brent Key and welcoming him when he joined the Crimson Tide in 2016. Years have passed since this, and many things have changed now, like Saban retiring from Alabama earlier this year and Brent Key joining as Georgia’s head coach in 2022. But the duo’s bond and admiration for each other haven’t changed a bit.
Nick Saban joined as an analyst on ESPN’s “College GameDay” and for other occasions, such as the NFL draft and southeastern conference media days, after he announced his retirement from his coaching career. Saban accepted the position as the coach for College GameDay, but he will soon transition to working as an analyst on Saturday, August 24, for the FSU and Georgia Tech game. Penalties like Lee Corso, Kirk Hersteit, Steve Coughlin, Desmond Howard, and Pat McAfee will join Nick Saban in Dublin. As the topic was discussed, Georgia Tech’s head coach, Brent Key, openly expressed his respect for Nick Saban.

On August 21st, during a media interview, Key stated, “It’s really cool for him to be here. To see the next chapter of his life, I think everyone is excited to see what value he brings to the network and the ‘College GameDay,’ but on a personal level, he’s been a huge mentor to me. He’s had a huge impact on my coaching career and a lot of things I do day-to-day. So being able to see him, talk to him, and catch up with some other things than football as well. Yeah, it’s great.“Looks like it’s going to be an emotional reunion for the two of them.
