Is Ben's battle with illness a reminder of the deep bonds we share with our pets?

ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit‘s pet dog has been a crucial part of the crew and many College Football fans watch Game Day just to see a glimpse of Ben. Not only does Herbstreit share a strong connection with him, but everyone from the Game Day crew loves Ben and even their families. Nick Saban‘s daughter, Kristen Saban, is one of them who often shares Ben’s pictures from the sets of Game Day. But her latest post has left fans worried about Ben’s health conditions. Is there something wrong with our favorite college football furry friend?

Kristen Saban took to her Instagram story to share a heartfelt message for Ben, writing, “Prayers for Ben” over a heartwarming post of Herbstreit’s dog. But what has happened to our beloved Ben? Well, Ben is undergoing chemotherapy to flush out toxins from his body. His condition is so critical that he has a thin chance of recovering from this illness.

Back in March, Ben was diagnosed with leukemia, and in July he went through a surgical procedure to remove two cancerous knots from his spleen and intestines. Currently, Ben is going through chemotherapy sessions and Herbstreit has recently shared that Ben has taken his second chemo injection on October 23.

However, Ben’s illness did not limit his Game-Day appearances. He has been the warmest member of the crew and Herbstreit has also started a show with his dog called “Walks with Ben,” where Herbstreit interviews college football guests while walking with Ben. Meanwhile, to give an exact idea of Ben’s condition, Herbstreit penned down an X post, which was later shared by Kristen as well.

Kirk Herbstreit’s message to all the fans out there worried about Ben

Right before the Alabama-Georgia game, Nick Saban’s daughter, Kristen, eased her stress by cozying up with Ben, sharing a series of photos with Herbstreit’s beloved dog. Even after Bama’s tough loss to Vandy, she found comfort in her furry companion. “All I care about at the moment,” Kristen wrote. Now, heartbroken, Kristen has shared a post from the ‘College Football Alerts’ Instagram page, which featured a message from Kirk Herbstreit for his best friend, Ben, to spread prayers and love for him.

Have an interesting take?

I’ve had so many people asking me about Ben that I wanted to let you know Ben had a 2nd chemo injection on October 23rd and from that day has been getting worse and worse. He has lost the use of his back legs—almost like they’re paralyzed, “Herbstreit wrote. He continued by writing, “He can barely walk. He hasn’t eaten in 3 days. I’m currently in Pennsylvania with a holistic Dr. who is administering a 3-day vitamin C IV, hoping it will flush the toxins from his body and give him a chance. The next 24-48 hours will tell us if he has a chance or not. I’m so thankful for ALL the love so many have shown him over the last couple of years.”

Herbstreit continued by explaining that Ben’s current condition has been one of the toughest moments of his life and he has always seen Ben as a best friend. He furthermore appealed to all the religious people out there to pray for Ben. At last, the analyst also revealed that Ben was in the ER and would be picked up the next morning for a vitamin C treatment.

In this moment of grief, Herbstreit is not alone. Millions of college football fans are standing with him and praying for Ben’s recovery. After all, we can’t lose our furry friend in the middle of the season. Because with his contagious smile and wiggles, Ben rules everyone’s hearts. Hope we hear good news about Ben’s health very soon.
