Did Kalen DeBoer underestimate Vanderbilt, or is Alabama's reign as a powerhouse coming to an end?

“Whatcha Doing?” This probably was the question on everyone’s mind when they saw Vanderbilt slam the Tide during the first half of the game. While everyone was still holding their breath, Kristen Saban didn’t waste any time to point out the problem. Kalen DeBoer and his boys somehow turned an easy game into a heartbreaker and it is wild to think that a team like Vanderbilt would get a dub over a No.1 ranked powerhouse.

The good thing is that Kristen won’t be taking the loss too badly. Kristen Saban took to her Instagram story to share a snap of herself with the caption; “Me going to bed tonight knowing I do not have to take these games personally anymore”. Yeah, well, Nick Saban ain’t HC, so it kind of saves Kristen some mental peace. However, Bama nation definitely ain’t happy with this and we do understand why.

This didn’t even feel like the same Crimson Tide that took on Georgia. Against the Bulldogs, Bama’s offense and defense game were on point. Leaving barely any room for Kirby Smart and his team to make plays, the Tide won the game fair and square.

Against Vanderbilt? That same spirit was missing. It looked like the boys were hell-bent on making the same mistakes they made during the 3rd and 4th quarter of the Bulldogs game. The defense took things too lightly and QB Jalen Milroe barely made any good plays.

It looks like former HC Nick Saban’s shade towards Vanderbilt came back to bite him. Nick had noted that winning against Vanderbilt wouldn’t be hard, but oh well, look at the outcome now. What’s even more surprising is the fact that a veteran player from the team acted out like a child.

Kalen DeBoer’s whining veteran

And there goes the mouth guard flying. This was how Malachi Moore responded to the entire loss. Throwing away his mouth guard and throwing a tantrum on the turf. This makes no sense. How many make the mistakes you made and then cry about it? And to think that this guy is one of the veteran players is wild.

Have an interesting take?

Kalen DeBoer had the perfect reality check for Moore. During the post-game conference, DeBoer focused on the fact that the boys need to turn the frustration into something positive going forward. “I think the key is that we turn that frustration into positives moving forward and make sure we remember what we feel here tonight,” DeBoer mentioned. Let’s hope that Bama is going to treat this reality check as an important lesson.
