Does ESPN's preference for McAfee over Le Batard signal a shift in sports media priorities?

Supporters found the College Gameday more thrilling and entertaining with the presence of Nick Saban along with Pat McAfee, ESPN analyst. Don’t believe! Prior to the Alabama vs. Tennessee game in week eight of CFB, former Alabama head coach Saban was spotted enjoying a fun time in College GameDay. The great was seen asking, “When are you gonna brake?” in a video that ESPN posted on X. Pat McAfee, the host, had a good laugh at Saban’s comment. It just seems like the two had a really enjoyable friendship. But, the ESPN analyst doesn’t share a good relation with former ESPN-analyst, Dan Le Batard. As in the past, Dan Le made harsh comments about Pat. This time, however, Dan Batard’s voice sounds completely different.

Dan Le Batard said on The Dan Le Batard Show on October 29, after showcasing a few College Game Day videos, “I do believe that McAfee is helping Game Day make a bit of a resurgence here in the ratings in a way that’s not disputable. Here, Le Batard appears to address the rift about the rivalry involving him and Pat McAfee. In furtherance of explaining how Saban’s presence made the College Gameday more exhilarating and exciting for supporters, Le Batard added, “He’s just doing. What is that? Is the choo choo train. What is that called?

But in case you were not aware, FOX gave College GameDay’s performance an extremely low rating last year. Because, a year ago, it would have seemed unthinkable that Big Noon Kickoff would have outperformed GameDay in the ratings, even though Fox did have the coverage of the eagerly awaited Michigan vs. Ohio State matchup. And as per Fox’s rating, Dan Le Batard stated that at least a little bit of a critique of the influence McAfee had (or hadn’t) had on the program.

Clarifying the entire scenario on October 29, Dan Le stated, “Got me into a little bit of trouble with McAfee and everybody over there. Because they were critical of Game Day last year in a way that got attached to me instead of you guys critical of McAfee.” Moreover, he added, “What are you guys trying to tell. Not your fault. Yeah. I barely worked here. I don’t know. Last year, McAfee said that I was talking about him because I was simply adding commentary to what you guys had said about College Game Day last year.”

However, it appears that his co-workers are the reason, but they are denying their prior charges in light of Dan Le’s clarification. Nevertheless, the question remains; is Pat and Dan’s feud still ongoing?

Le Batard has previously expressed his annoyance, saying that ESPN gave preference to McAfee’s less political programming over the viewpoints that he had to provide. He claimed that ESPN’s choice was impacted by polls that discouraged political discourse, especially following the George Floyd demonstrations.

Known for his candid opinions and unvarnished criticism, Dan Le was prepared to disprove ESPN. He has now landed an agreement with NBC’s Peacock to broadcast The Dan Le Batard Show, which will compete with The Pat McAfee Show, after feeling marginalized by the station in preference for Pat McAfee. But now for Batard, the figures present a hard picture. McAfee’s show is the most popular on YouTube, with episodes receiving hundreds of thousands, and occasionally even millions, of views. Where Le Batard’s show has had trouble taking off. What do you think, then? Either they have a healthy rivalry or the rivalry is still going strong.
