Home/College Football

When you know that your program is strong, it is okay to be a bit cocky. However, throwing too much shade can come back to haunt you. Former Tide HC Nick Saban had noted back on The Pat McAfee Show that playing against Vanderbilt won’t be a hard task. “The only place you’re going to play in the SEC that’s not hard to play, Vanderbilt. When you play at Vanderbilt, you have more fans there than they have, and that’s no disrespect to them, it’s the truth,” well, those were the GOAT’s exact words!

While we do agree that when compared on a pure skill level, Bama is leagues better than what the Dores have, you still gotta keep in mind that anything can switch up in CFB. That is exactly what Nick Saban is feeling right now.

Closing the game with 40-35 on the scoreboard, the Dores have managed to slam dunk on one of the biggest powerhouses in college football. Kalen DeBoer and Co. were in shock and Nick Saban was probably regretting his words. It’s funny to see that Nick Saban’s daughter, Kristen Saban, was the first one to call out Bama and what they were doing on the turf. The entire defense was all over the place.

Allowing Vanderbilt to pull off 166 rushing yards feels criminal. It was as if losing their Linebacker, Justin Jefferson, completely wreaked the team. However, what we can say is that this entire loss was a result of overconfidence.

DeBoer and Co. had just won their game against the biggest rival; Georgia. Going into Vanderbilt, the team might have loosened up too much. QB Jalen Milroe barely made any good plays but WR Ryan Williams did try his best.

As Nick Saban, DeBoer, and Bama fans come to terms with this major loss, we gotta check out how Vanderbilt managed to take down the No.1 team. This marks the first-ever win of the Dores over a top 5 team and, well, they earned it.

Taking down the best

What’s your perspective on:

Did Nick Saban's arrogance cost Alabama the game against Vanderbilt, or was it just bad luck?

Have an interesting take?

The star of the show has to be Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia. This guy came in clutch with only landing 4 incompletions during the entire game. With 16 out of 20 successful passes and two touchdowns, Pavia managed to cover 252 yards.

The Commodores were feisty and managed to lock down Jalen Milroe with ease. To think that this is the first time since 1984 that the team has managed to secure a dub against Bama is quite surprising. It kind of felt like the same problems that haunted Bama during the 3rd and 4th quarter of the Bulldogs game, came back to bite the team yet again. This time, though, it was throughout the first half. Let us know how you felt watching this heartbreaker.
