Can the Aggies break the 'curse' of Jordan Hare, or will history repeat itself?

Nick Saban has a very weird trauma attached to the Jordan Hare stadium, the Tiger’s quintessential home field. As the Aggies will face Auburn this Saturday as a slight favorite in the betting odds, Saban warned them not to be sure of anything and to be cautious. The reason is simple. It’s Jordan Hare, and nothing is guaranteed here. To the Aggies’ dismay, Saban had some more hilarious yet plausible adjectives to describe the venue. But the bottom line is you can expect a mercurial game out there.

The Tigers will have a huge home-field advantage in Jordan Hare, something Saban is the old victim of. Thankfully, Alabama doesn’t have to play the Iron Bowl at the cursed stadium this season, but some memory lingers in the memory way longer than it should. Nick Saban echoed a familiar concern for the Aggies during Saturday’s College GameDay edition.

‘I would be alerting Texas A&M,” Saban explained. ”In my opinion, in 17 years of playing in Jordan-Hare, that place is haunted. The way we lost games there, the way we won games, it’s unbelievable. The Kick Six, and then ‘Gravedigger’ last year, I’m telling you, the place is haunted.”

The way of his warning made the entire crew burst into laughter. But don’t let it fool you. Maybe the paint in words is tickling, but the message behind it isn’t. Saban didn’t want to let the memory of his 14-8 record against the Tigers, including four losses inside Jordan-Hare Stadium, flash through the Aggies’ costly quash, detrimental to their playoff hope.

The Aggies will really drive on the thin ice, trying to topple the Tigers at their ‘Kingdom Of God’. But Mike Elko has been clear on his mission.

Mike Elko knows how to take care of business at the ‘iconic’ Jordan Hare

Can the Aggies break the 'curse' of Jordan Hare, or will history repeat itself?

Have an interesting take?

Elko and his team have a massive day scheduled for November 30th as they are going to revive the age-old lone state rivalry against Texas Longhorns, and they are fuelling with the beast’s energy. During a pre-game interview, the coach’s slip of the tongue (calling it Texas instead of Auburn) made instant headlines, marking their nonchalant attitude toward the game against The Tigers. But Elko promptly corrected his mistake and said the team very well knows that they have to cross the Tigers to reach the Longhorns. So, they will head to Saturday’s game with a ‘one task at a time’ approach against Auburn.

But Elko had no prior fear like Saban with the Jordan Hare.“We’ve played early games over there,” the coach explained. “The atmosphere was great. There’s a lot of pageantry at Auburn. It’s a great place to play. It’s one of the iconic stadiums in this conference.”

Regardless, they will have no room to repeat the mistakes that led to a humiliating 44-20 road loss against the Gamecocks in week 10.
