“Best QB prospect” and Jalen Milroe. These two always go hand in hand. Milroe managed to awe us with his performance during the 2023 season. The kid managed to lock in more than 20 TDs and over 3200 yards. Not only that, he had a solid accuracy and completion rate that hovered between 55 and 65%. And now that Kalen DeBoer has taken over the reins, Jalen Milroe has improved even more. We saw a glimpse when the kid managed to land a 50-yard touchdown during the scrimmages. Despite this, his former coach doesn’t think he would be the star QB this season.
As GameDay starts, we find Nick Saban giving us some really solid opinions. One of these was revealed on August 24th. “I think Garrett Nussmeier is going to be one of the all-time sleepers in college football this year at QB,” Saban noted. While snubbing Milroe from his title, Saban has crowned a new king from the Tigers, and it’s understandable why. Nussmeier has played in seven games for the Tigers, and in one of them, he led his team to a win during the Citrus Bowl.
247Sports went on to mark Nussmeier as the No. 10 QB on the list of the Top 10 QBs in college football. However, don’t let that number fool you, because Nussmeier is not your typical quarterback. When the kid is on the field running with the ball, he does not look like a freshman. We all know that the Tigers have had two Heisman Trophy winners from their team since 2019. There is high hope that Nussmeier could be another candidate on that list as well.

Nick Saban on LSU: "I think Garrett Nussmeier is going to be one of the all-time sleepers in college football this year at QB. LSU always has skill guys. They're talking about all the receivers they lost — you could shake a tree in Louisiana and them guys would fall out."

However, while Nussmeier has gotten major praise from Nick Saban, He still has to keep in mind that he will be taking up the legacy that Joe Burrow left behind. “It’s going to be something that’s fun to watch,” Nussmeier had noted during an interview. His plans as the starter for the Tigers would be to make explosive players and play to their strengths. It looks like the Tigers could have a solid season this year. More so because of how their entire lineup looks.
Brian Kelly’s defense and offense

It ain’t new news that the 2023 Tigers have the worst defense in the entire country. However, HC Brian Kelly learned from his mistakes and has remapped the entire defense. The coach has gone on to bring in new defensive staff who could achieve a lot more this year. The main thing to look out for would be the linebackers. The Tigers currently have the best linebacker unit in the entire country.
Harold Perkins and Greg Penn are starting the LBs. Perkins was marked as the AP preseason first-team All-American, while this would be the third starting season for Penn. Both players know the game from the inside out. On the other side, you have probably one of the strongest offensive lines in the nation. Will Campbell and Emery Jones are leading the O-line. Both players have been regarded as the best tackle duo. With all of this, it ain’t no surprise why Nick Saban regards the Tigers as something great. Let’s hope we see some solid runs from them this year.
