WKU students hanging a red towel on Saban's statue—disrespect or just good fun?

Don’t we love it when someone proves Paul Finebaum wrong? Ever since the SEC Media days started, Finebaum has done nothing but throw shade toward Kalen DeBoer. He called the team and DeBoer’s coaching overrated and also noted that people are going to miss Nick Saban after watching the Tides perform. Well, Tides fans can agree that with the season opener, Kalen DeBoer proved why he is the “next Nick Saban” and why he is the only one capable of carrying out the major expectations that everyone has regarding Nick Saban’s former team. While the Tides did manage to win a solid game versus WKU and closed it at 63-0, students from WKU were not having it.

So some kids from WKU decided to take revenge. On September 2nd, Barstool Western took to X to share a funny update. “WKU gets the last laugh over Alabama after WKU students hang the Red Towel over the Nick Saban statue,” Barstool mentioned in the caption of their post. In the image, we can spot 3 students standing and laughing as a red towel hands on Nick Saban’s hands. Let’s keep the rivalry aside. This is funny. However, you better learn how to walk the walk. Saban’s faith in DeBoer shined as the new HC managed to show why people call him an offensive mastermind. QB Jalen Milroe went on to secure 3 TDs throughout the game, followed by Ryan Williams at 2 TDs and Justice Haynes at 1 TD. This alone proves why Joel Klatt was right in calling Tides “the best offensive line in the country”. And if you thought that it was only the offense that shined, then you are so wrong.

The defense did not allow WKU to move at all. Kentucky was allowed to rush only 42 yards and had a passing yard of 103. That is bad. Malachi Moore, Keon Sabb, and the other boys on the defense did a solid job at not only stopping the rushes from WKU but also making a clear path for Milroe to rush. So, at the end of the day, putting that towel on Nick Saban’s hands would do nothing cause DeBoer and his revamped team have already answered Kentucky. While they slowly adjust to the burn, let’s focus on what’s next for DeBoer and the boys.

Bulls are waiting for Kalen DeBoer

South Florida Bulls is another team many people are probably sleeping on. The Bulls opened their season with a massive 48-3 win over Bethune-Cookman. Five kids from the Bulls managed to lock in 5 TDs. This also marks the team’s first-ever season opener win since 2020. Not something you want to flex, but hey, you gotta em some hope.

But let’s cut to the chase. Will the Bulls manage to defeat the Tides? Heck no, have you seen how Milroe performed against WKU? that alone should be enough evidence that the Bulls wont even manage to get their hands on the Tides. This should be an easy win for DeBoer and the boys. However, we still gotta wait till September 8th.
