Unfortunately, the Crimson Tide are having a tough time with their playoff chances getting dimmer with each passing day. They have faced their worst season in a long time. A team that was mentored by ‘the Nick Saban’, has fallen to its knees in the 2024 season and Crimson Tide no longer can make their former HC proud! All thanks to their playoff hopes dozed off. Not just Kalen DeBoer’s program, Ole Miss Rebels too stooped low in Saban’s eyes as the GOAT came up with a clear stance on the playoff situation. Maybe Bama and the Rebels are too unlucky as they are joined by another 3-loss team’s hopes resting on to make it to the playoffs.

When Saban left his child, Alabama Crimson Tide, in DeBoer’s hands, he did expect the debut HC to be extremely protective. But poor DeBoer! Not only was he unable to protect the Bama boys, Crimson Tide dropped out of the playoff contention as per the latest edition of the CFP rankings. After all, they lost to a gritty Oklahoma Sooners. Two other underdogs, Vanderbilt and Tennessee, too crushed them. Do you know when was the last time the Crimson Tide had a three-loss season? Back in 2010! So now Saban had to face the media and do something he strongly dislikes. On The Pat McAfee Show, he was asked how some teams like Indiana Hoosiers and Notre Dame’s future look good in the playoffs journey. Saban started with “I hate to make comparisons.”

But Saban would rather like the basketball rankings which clearly show the stats on how many good teams they have beaten, which is also suggestive of the strength of their schedule. But he can’t deny how DeBoer’s Alabama and Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss had a hard time with not-so-great teams. It might be heartbreaking for him when he said, “Right now, hard to reward a team with three losses. Especially the kind of losses that Ole Miss had and like Alabama’s had to pretty 500 teams. I’m going to call them so pretty average.”

On the flip side, he gives due credit to the programs that didn’t lose to the average teams. So Saban has his vote for Kirby Smart’s program. As he dropped the bomb, “the only team that could have an argument to get in with three losses if Georgia actually plays in the SEC Championship game.” But looks like to the Barstool Sports analyst, not the Bulldogs but another program stands a chance.

Kalen DeBoer and Lane Kiffin failed to woo the CBS Sports analyst

What’s your perspective on:

Is Shane Beamer the new king of the SEC, leaving Alabama and Ole Miss in the dust?

Have an interesting take?

While DeBoer and Kiffin no longer are in control of their destiny, there is someone who is still in the driver’s seat of their Fortune Express. That’s none other than South Carolina Gamecocks HC Shane Beamer. Going by the latest CFP rankings, South Carolina has moved up three spots. They are now at No.15, only three spots behind their rivals, Clemson Tigers. So how could not they get their due credit?

Here entered CBS Sports analyst Dave Portnoy who on the Barstool College Football Show rooted for Beamer’s squad, “The major issue is how you play down the stretch should weigh in more like when you have these teams in the middle, give me the team that hasn’t lost in six weeks, that’s my South Carolina.” Well, we must admit how it was not an easy ride, all thanks to their schedule.

As the analyst pointed out, “They beaten good teams. A&M they beat by 24. They’ve beaten a hot Vanderbilt team playing well, they have beaten Missouri.” Yes, that’s what Nick Saban pinpointed. South Carolina had to put their blood, sweat, and tears to snatch the victory from ranked teams. On the contrary, Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama and Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss accepted defeat handed by unranked teams. Maybe the GOAT is upset now that the Crimson Tide’s playoff chances stooped to only 37%. What a fall!
