Shedeur Sanders’ name in football circles is synonymous with legacy, poise, and elegance. Thanks to the achievements of his legendary father, Deion Sanders. But don’t think for a moment that the player is not following in Coach Prime’s footsteps. The season? Well, he lit up the fields quite literally in his last season at the Colorado Buffaloes. A 74% pass completion rate for 4,134 passing yards and a whopping 37 touchdowns screams ‘talent’ all over.

So, naturally, it would seem apt that the player will be talked for the coveted number 1 pick in the NFL draft. What would be a bigger step and achievement than to land that lucrative NFL deal and step onto the podium to success? What could be bigger, right? Well, it seems Shedeur Sanders’ fame and influence are surpassing all these norms and have caught the eye of the biggest power in the footballing world: the NFL. And it’s earlier than expected.

The NFL is the biggest stage a footballer can dream of performing on. This is the place where legacies are made, and players rise through the ranks. Shedeur Sanders could be the exception in that sense. Why? Well, the NFL’s official X account has a whopping 37.5 million followers and is probably one of the biggest X accounts in America. Mind you, Shedeur Sanders didn’t throw in the combine and was just available for media interviews and briefings. This achievement has made his mother, Pilar Sanders, the happiest woman on earth, as she shared a message for him.

She posted a screenshot of the achievement by the ace QB, highlighting how big an achievement that was. But the most important aspect she shared was that she tagged it with Shedeur Sanders’ song ‘Perfect Timing’ in the background, which has a photo of his’ legendary flex celebration of the Custom Audemars Piguet watch. Shedeur Sanders’s draft stock at risk?

His iconic celebration became an overnight sensation in America, with people like DJ Khaled and Rick Ross flexing the same celebration on their Instagram pages. The song has close to 5.5 million plays on Spotify alone. That alone tells you the player isn’t just lighting up the field. He is lighting up the internet, too. However, there’s a slight hiccup still in his NFL plan, and here’s why.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Shedeur Sanders' 'arrogance' just confidence, or is it a red flag for NFL teams?

Have an interesting take?

Several people in the media and even the coaches at the NFL have dubbed the player’s attitude as ‘arrogant‘ and ‘brash‘. One of the QB coaches of the top seven teams in the NFL proclaimed Sanders to be quite arrogant, as per NFL insider Josina Anderson. Furthermore, senior draft analyst Todd McShay had also said that it seemed that during the interview the player didn’t really care about the opinions of others and called it ‘not a professional approach’. Surely that will get his mother, Pilar Sanders, riled up, right?

Well, it seems that his mother did respond to the criticisms of the coaches and posted it on his Instagram Story. She wrote, “Wait, who said that???“. Quite a straightforward question, but it surely contains the required fury in it. Clearly, Pilar Sanders isn’t happy about the criticisms of the player in the media. And why would she not? Just because he didn’t participate in the Combine doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the talent. I mean, this is the player who has proved himself all season, so snubbing the Combine doesn’t even mean anything.
