Is Warren Sapp right about Michigan's season being over, or can they prove him wrong?

Over two decades have passed since the Washington Huskies defeated the Michigan Wolverines. It was in 2001 when they gifted fans with a nail-biter coming off with a 23-18 victory over the Wolverines. But the tables are gonna turn this season. At least the NFL legend feels so. Now that their ex-HC Jim Harbaugh is gone, it’s time for Sherrone Moore to fill some big shoes. However, things have been tough in Ann Arbor with the Wolverines witnessing the first regular season defeat in nearly three years. While things go awry with Moore’s squad and NFL star raising a premonition, they can turn things in their favor against the Huskies only by doing one thing.

This season had a rocky start for the Wolverines when they rather looked lackluster during their feat against Fresno State. They even got throttled in the Big House by the powerful Texas Longhorns in Week 2. While Moore might be still living in denial, the ex-San Francisco 49ers star, Randy Cross, came up with a wakeup call. Even though he started talking about how Michigan gonna be impressed playing in Seattle, he suddenly tossed out his preference, “I am taking the Huskies.”

Coming off with so much experience, Cross might have got some premonition for rooting for Washington and not Moore’s program. Along with him, ex-Packers legend Aaron Taylor too poured in with his analysis, “They can clearly score points if they can protect the football and make it hard for the Michigan…if they get it down even by 10 points it seemingly would be hard for them to do.” And what’s going to happen next?

Moore’s team suffered a disappointing loss to Texas, losing by a score of 31-12. In case they again lose to Jedd Fisch’s squad, this will further crush their dreams of making it to the Top 2 and landing outside the Big 10. Plus, all-time, Michigan is 26-15-1 against SEC schools. And that’s going to be the end for them without making it to the Big 12 playoff. But there is only one option left for the Wolverines to turn their luck in their favor this weekend, October 5.

Can Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines be able to turn the table?

This season Washington is 3-2 (1-1 in the Big Ten). The excitement is at its peak as what seems like a rematch. Last season, during the national championship game, the Wolverines hosted the Huskies winning over them 34-13. The victory has been a cakewalk for Michigan with phenoms like Donovan Edwards and Blake Corum on board who ran all over the Huskies’ defense. Sadly, things are going to be different this time. Now Washington is going to have the home-field privilege!

Plus, Moore’s program is also faltering badly, failing to protect their QB. But what’s the only way to crush the Huskies’ offense that is known for its Air Raid style? To control the clock. The Huskies’ QB Will Rogers throughout the five weeks has the best passing yards (1,354 yards) in the Big Ten.

So what can Sherrone Moore and co. do instead? Get control of the clock, leverage their strong rushing game, and force the Huskies to hurry. That would lead to the likelihood of turnovers. Now let’s see how desperate are Wolverines to make it to the Big 12 playoffs!
