Home/College Football

Buckle up folks, the NFL Combine is here! And one of the most valuable players who is going to turn heads is Alabama Crimson Tide’s Jalen Milroe. The expectations are high for the QB. It has to be. After all, he carries with himself the quintessential Nick Saban factor. Plus, Milroe has often drawn comparisons with the legendary Lamar Jackson.

Now that the NFL giants already have their eyes on him, they get some last-minute tips. And while according to analysts this might be his USP, this comes off as an unusual demand in Milroe’s case. NFL insider’s blueprint for Jalen Milroe’s success

Now already Milroe is carrying too much burden on his shoulders. He could not lead the Bama squad to the College Football Playoff this year. However, even in what he had put up, he had stood out. Mainly because of his ability to be laser-focused and his swagger both on and off the field. For instance, Joel Klatt thinks very highly of the QB even though he threw fewer touchdowns. The stats say it was 23 in 2023 which dropped to 16 in 2024. Now that he is moving into the NFL, will that affect his stocks? Chances are high. But here enters insider Field Yates, to guide the suitors on how to make the most use of Milroe. To him, it’s the speed factor.

On the Pat McAfee Show, Yates started with, “I like Jalen right away as getting like almost like a platoon roll for a team at quarterback. Because you’re right, the passing down to Mobile was inconsistent this past season.” This might be from the Senior Bowl where Milroe could complete three of his five pass attempts for 18 yards. The QB then added three carries for 11 yards as a runner, but got sacked three times. Here comes the other side of the Milroe story. “I don’t know if he will run. But it’s going to be amongst the fastest times of any player here this week at the Combine.” Well, do you remember Milroe’s 40 time?

The Crimson Tide QB ran the 40-yard dish in 4.64 seconds. The 6’2”, 212-pounder poses a serious threat on the gridiron because of his speed. However, it’s now the job of the offensive coordinator to light the fuse of Milroe’s highlight reel and “take the advantage of the speed.” But will this make the New Orleans Saints back off in their plans to land Milroe?

How Jalen Milroe is raising eyebrows amidst NFL giant’s interest

The Alabama QB now lands in choppy waters. The big ol’ QB vs. RB debate. According to Yates, the Crimson Tide product should carry forward his NFL dreams as an RB. But the Saints under their new HC Kellen Moore see Milroe as their No.71 pick filling the QB position. Analyst Joe DeLone of Pro Football & Sports Network predicted, “If Derek Carr is given one more shot this season, New Orleans should seek out their future quarterback with the cheapest route possible.” Now, Yates is not the only one who thinks that Milroe should go for the RB role.

On the NFL Network, Chad Reuter helped the QB with a solution to get back his lost hype. And what’s that? Flipping positions. The NFL Rookie Watch posted, that it’s high time he needs to step out of his comfort zone. It read, “And some NFL scouts think Milroe would have a ‘better chance of success’ switching to RB rather than playing QB in the NFL.” Now there is one big turn-off for Milroe when it comes to his success as the QB.

Now quarterbacks are normally the ones with large hands. Even the consensus for the smallest measurements should be a minimum of nine inches. Unfortunately, Jalen Milroe fails to make that cut too. His hands being measured at 8.8 inches are the smallest since Kenny Pickett. Now what does Milroe think about hitting the ‘SWAP’ button? “You don’t ask a zebra to be a dog,” came his reply. Will Milroe stay married to the QB life or flirt with a future as a full-time runner?
