Will Andrew Olesh's family ties to Penn State sway his decision away from Michigan?

5-5! The defending champions are struggling this season. Head coach Sherrone Moore is in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. After winning over their archrival Michigan State, they disappointed the fans again with back-to-back poor performances. Last week, they tried their best but could not succeed in breaking the winning streak of Indiana and lost to the No. 5 team 20-15. Since the 2024 season started, Moore and his staff have experienced various challenges, but from the past few weeks, it looks like they are finally working on the problems. Moore is actively recruiting top athletes with the vision to excel next season. While they are focusing on new talent, there is a new twist in their 4-star commit Andrew Olesh’s commitment.

The National Signing Day is soon approaching, but we have seen many players flipping their decisions. Will Andrew Olesh be the next one? On November 14th, EJ Holand, Michigan’s recruiting reporter, discussed five key Michigan football recruits on The Wolverine: Michigan Football and Basketball’s YouTube channel. Moore and his team need to pay attention as he shares Andrew’s family ties with Penn State.“The contenders here are Oregon. Penn State and Notre Dame. So, Penn State is the home state school; they’ve gotten him on campus a few times over the last year, including once this fall. I think that, you know, with them being closer to home and his father having gone to Penn State, they’re definitely in the mix.” He visited Notre Dame as well. These visits are concerning. We all know the growing competition and the changing landscape of college football.

Although Andrew has family ties with Penn State, the reporter is concerned with his Oregon visit. “I think Oregon’s done a really good job of recruiting him down the stretch. It is further away from home; that’s a long flight from PA to the Pacific Northwest, but I do think that, again, their staff has done a really good job of recruiting him and showing him how he would be utilized in the offense. I think they’ve kind of shown him that they have a plan at the quarterback position.”

Oregon has been leading the college football rankings for a few weeks now. Yes! They have been No. 1 for a long time. The defending champs, Michigan, are nowhere close to Oregon’s performance this season. It will be interesting to see if he flips. Till then, let’s see what he thinks about Oregon after his last visit.

Oregon’s win over Illinois makes an impact on Andrew Olesh

During the latest high school football game, Andrew was seen wearing an Oregon Ducks towel. He visited Eugene and saw the Ducks dominating Illinois 38-9 at Autzen Stadium. Since then, he has been in the spotlight again. Many experts and insiders think that he will change his decision.

Hold no! He is going to visit Oregon again on November 30 when they host Washington. In his recent conversation with On3, he discussed his recent experience, which indicates that the Ducks have impressed him. “The visit was phenomenal. What stood out to me was the statement, Win against a really good Illinois team, and the relationships I built with the coaching  staff.”  Ahh, the comments are very clear, Moore. You cannot afford to lose top players.

Andrew Olesh further highlighted his relationship with head coach Dan Lanning and added, “I really enjoyed spending time with coach Lanning and coach [Drew] Mehringer too. We went through film on their tight ends, and they showed me how they would utilize my talents in their offensive scheme.” Oregon’s coaching staff is equally putting efforts into their recruitment. We are sure Lanning is not letting Andrew go easily. What do you think?
