Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers have been constantly dragged into the discussions for their falling season. It’s been weeks since we have been hearing angry LSU fans demanding Kelly’s exit. Little did we know they would bounce back with a 24-17 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, putting an end to all the hate. “Our players and all of our coaches, they obviously had to listen to the noise that’s out there about LSU football,” Brian Kelly said after the game. Not only did Kelly salvage their late-season game, but he’s on his way to flip a Florida commit.
On the recent episode of the On3 show, college football analyst Josh Newberg shared the news of a five-star commit, Solomon Thomas, whom Brian Kelly and LSU had been pursuing lately. “There are sources that believe that LSU is the biggest challenger to Florida State. For Solomon Thomas, they look like a huge challenger to Florida State in the summer. I mean that Solomon Thomas sent me a bunch of photos, and I had asked for him after his official visits.”
Newberg started by recalling his encounter with the five-star prospect Solomon Thomas, who was initially committed to the Florida state in December 2023. However, looking at the way he’s flirting with other teams, it seems he’s about to change his mind and find a new place for himself. Besides LSU, there were rumors about his chance to flip to South Carolina to stay closer to his home. So far, he’s only checked out LSU officially and hasn’t visited any other schools. Amidst that, Newberg suggested LSU as the most potential place Thomas might flip to. Moving forward, Newberg gave reasons for his possible flip.

“I thought he was close to flipping to the Tigers in June. So Coach Brad Davis, just Brian Kelly’s history of offensive line coach Davis, the way he’s developed those guys in Baton Rouge, just the feel he gets the vibe around the program…..But we’ll see you know how those conversations go with LSU this weekend, and if that changes the dynamic of this recruitment,” On3’s Steve Wiltfong said. It’s not just the LSU Tigers; other SEC rivals could also pose a challenge for the Seminoles. When asked, “But we’re not counting out the Gators with 10 days to go, are we?” Wiltfong confidently replied, “No, we’re not. But most of the people I talk to say LSU is the biggest threat to FSU.”
Thomas solidified that narrative by officially visiting LSU during their last game against Vanderbilt. Yeah, the game Brian Kelly and his boys at last showed up in. The 6-foot-4 and 315-pounder is the greatest commit of Florida’s 2025 class, but given their pathetic season this year, it looks like the young guy is not sticking with them anymore. A 1-9 record can scare anyone, to be honest, and he’s just a kid! Meanwhile, do you know what the offensive lineman said about the Tigers?

So here’s the tea: Thomas, a much hyped-about big boy from Jacksonville, hit the Baton Rouge this weekend, and LSU could not keep their eyes away from him. The guy has been locked up with Florida State for very long. He made his commitment public back in December 2023, but LSU didn’t stop luring his commitment.
What’s your perspective on:
Will Solomon Thomas' potential flip to LSU be the game-changer Kelly desperately needs?
Have an interesting take?
So when the dude went on the official visit, he just called coach Brad Davis “different,” and linemen Emery Jones and Will Cambell felt like “freaking dogs” to him. Big words, high praise, and all! We can smell something cooking! But honestly, LSU has been a total mess lately, struggling to find their offensive coordinator, Alex Atkins, which had Thomas heated.
Although Thomas is still riding with FSU as of now, you gotta see how far that goes. So here’s a million-buck question: Can LSU and Brian Kelly’s swagger and stability be okay to flip Thomas? This one will get juicy with each passing day; stay connected to know the latest updates on it.
