QB1 or BFF? When you’re Nebraska’s golden boy and the Raiola bloodline runs through your veins, even a casual family post can turn into social media gold. Dylan Raiola, the prized QB1 and heir to Lincoln’s football throne, was recently soaking up some downtime with his all-star clan. Dad Dominic, a Husker legend, and sister Taylor, the TCU volleyball standout who’s fast becoming a star in her own right. The photo was pure Hallmark: sun-soaked, smiles all around, and good vibes only. That is, until Houston Cougars and Taylor’ ex-teammate decided to turn the sweet moment into a competition with Dylan over the possession of Taylor.
The question was, whose is Taylor? The Nebraska QB certainly thinks she’s his. Dylan dropped a heart-melting comment on Taylor’s photo in which he was there too, “My patnah.” But not so fast—enter Kate Georgiades – the Houston Cougars volleyball queen. A libero with 36 awards under her belt and an elite-level bestie bond with Taylor. She slid into the comment section with a playful yet bold rebuttal: “No that’s my best friend.” And just like that, the internet had a friendly tug-of-war over Taylor.
On one side, you’ve got Dylan, Nebraska’s quarterback-in-waiting and the face of Husker football’s future. On the other hand, Georgiades, the human highlight reel who’s racked up enough volleyball accolades to fill a trophy case and a scrapbook. And figuratively speaking: Taylor Raiola is worth fighting over!

The outside hitter made waves during her time at TCU. Notching an insane 22-kill game against Baylor in 2022, which stood as the second-most ever by a Horned Frog against a top-10 opponent. Over four seasons, she was the heart and soul of her squad—a six-rotation machine, team captain, and record-chasing juggernaut. In fact, her double-double performance as a sophomore broke a school dry spell dating all the way back to 2005. Taylor didn’t just play volleyball—she etched herself into TCU’s legacy.
And while her brother gears up to write his own chapter in Husker lore, Taylor’s already laying bricks behind the scenes. She’s now Nebraska’s graduate manager for recruiting, helping Matt Rhule & Co. shape the program’s next generation. Call it full-circle: the same tenacity she brought to the court is now reshaping Lincoln’s future from the inside.
As for Georgiades, she’s got her own legacy in motion. Back in her freshman year (2020), she ranked second at TCU in digs and digs per set, earning Dean’s Honor List recognition and proving early she was more than just a spark—she was a storm. Now dominating at Houston, she continues to be a stat-sheet regular and the heartbeat of her defense. If anyone can throw a playful shot at Dylan and still make it land with charm, it’s Kate. So, who “wins” Taylor’s allegiance? Honestly, nobody has to.

Dylan Raiola’s breakout year? Nebraska’s WR room might just be the key
All eyes are on Dylan Raiola as Nebraska’s potential breakout quarterback in 2025—but if he’s going to level up, it won’t just be on his shoulders. He’s got some serious help coming his way, and it starts with the wide receivers.
Nebraska OC Dana Holgorsen is feeling good about what’s brewing in the WR room, especially when it comes to a couple of talented freshmen. “They will be contributors in the fall… 1-on-1 reps those guys probably have the highest percentage success rate,” Holgorsen said of Cortez Mills and Isaiah Mozee. That’s high praise for two guys fresh out of high school.

But it doesn’t stop with the young guns. Nebraska also went shopping in the portal, and they came back with some real weapons. Barion Brown’s former Kentucky teammate, Dane Key, brings experience and production: 47 catches, 715 yards, and 2 touchdowns last year alone. Across his time in Lexington, he’s hauled in 126 passes for 1,870 yards and 14 touchdowns. Jeremiah Hunter, the Cal transfer, posted 578 yards and 5 touchdowns in 2024.
Holgorsen’s offense has big-play potential written all over it. With Raiola building chemistry, especially with Dane Key, the Cornhuskers could be ready to cook in 2025.
