The primary issue in the game was the injuries suffered by the offensive line players. Following this Husker’s head coach Matt Rhule recently gave updates on the team’s health before Saturday’s game.

Today on the Nebraska Huskers YouTube channel, Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule gave an injury update regarding some big names who have been out of action. When the host asked him about the offensive line from last week, he said offensive lineman Turner Corcoran is progressing however, Rhule also mentioned that “he will remain out for an extended period” During their last game against Illinois, Turner suffered from a hamstring injury, resulting in linebacker Gunnar Gottula taking over his position. During the podcast, the host asked Matt Rhule if they were getting ready for Purdue, to which Matt replied, “I think Gunnar’s got in the game at the moment when it was not too big; he is playing excellent; we had excellent head rushers; he looked like he belonged, and now that you have played significant meaningful minutes, they have the chance to come back in this week.”

Nebraska’s last week’s faceoff turned out pretty rough for the team. Not only did Nebraska lose their key players to injury, but they also suffered a humiliating loss. The game was simply a missed opportunity for the team. Nebraska’s star quarterback Dylan Raiola’s pass cost them the game. During the second quarter, Dylan threw a pass to wide receiver Isaiah Neyor, which was supposed to result in a possible touchdown. But it turned into a nightmare for the team as the touchdown was turned into an interception by Illinois star cornerback Torrie Cox Jr. He was also sacked three times, which cost them a loss of 38 yards and ultimately the game. Even after the interception, Raiola ran for 297 yards with three touchdowns. But it couldn’t add much value to the game.

However, Matt Rhule still has high hopes for the team. After the game, in an interview, he mentioned, “Despite everything that went wrong, we still had a chance to win the football game.” Well, last week’s loss broke Nebraska’s winning streak and handed them a 3-1 loss record in the game. Let’s see if Matt Rhule and the team can return to their best form for their upcoming match. Till then, keep supporting your favorite team.
