Was Tim Polasek's decision to bench Cam Miller the dumbest move in college football this season?

The North Dakota State is still on the adapt mode. It’s the debut season for their HC Tim Polasek. While the Bisons fans expected slow progress on Polasek’s end, little did they know that the new HC would end up taking the “dumbest decision”. Everyone waited with bated breath for August 29, after all, it was the time for the Colorado Buffaloes and North Dakota State face-off!

However, as called out by the Michigan alum, Polasek ruined it for his program by not trusting their potential QB Cam Miller. Even though the Buffs QB often is the star of the show, the statistical comparison shows Miller is not far behind.

As Colorado is often associated with their star QB Shedeur, it’s Miller for North Dakota State. Since this time, Deion Sanders’ son is expected to create a rage on the field, Polasek had confirmed Miller as the starting QB. Last season, the Bisons’ QB’s record of running 2,530 yards along with bagging 18 touchdowns and 4 interceptions were enough to woo the HC. However, during the season opener face-off, Polasek took a wrong turn on the decision-making highway. And here arrived Michigan alum and sports columnist Jason Whitlock to call out the Bisons HC. He tweeted, “Why you take Cam Miller out of the game is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen.”

It’s not the right time to rest. If you think that Polasek took Miller away because he failed to give his best, then you are mistaken. Miller had been no less than a threat to the rivals in the Folsom Field on August 29. The North Dakota State QB went for 10-for-13 with 144 yards. Not just this, he caught hold of two touchdowns- one passing, one rushing. This makes the statistical comparison between the two QBs even more relevant.

Have an interesting take?

The hype is real for Shedeur now that he is hailed as a top prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft. The Buffs QB’s had started 37 games in college football and came up with interesting stats. Deion’s son has gone for 911-for-1326 which came up with a completion percentage of 68.7. If you think that makes the Buffs QB unbeatable, then you must wait for Miller’s numbers to drop in.

Even though Polasek’s star QB is yet to surpass Shedeur’s record, he had played only three seasons with the Bisons. This short-stint was enough for Miller to go 501-for-745, which amounts to a 67.2 completion percentage. Yes, so close is the competition between the two QBs! Besides, Shedeur has thrown for 10,193 yards over the three seasons while it’s 6,469 for Miller within the same timeline.

When it comes to touchdowns, the Buffs QB’s score is limited to 97 touchdowns and 17 interceptions, while the North Dakota State star has thrown 48 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Does it mean that Tim Polasek made a colossal whoopsie by keeping someone powerful like Cam Miller off the field? Let your opinions pour in!
