Is Bryce Underwood the game-changer LSU needs, or will Michigan regret missing out on him?

Bryce Underwood. There has been a lot of hype around this guy, and it is understandable why. Rated as the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class by 247Sports, this is the QB any team would want for a strong roster next season. But right now, he is committed to LSU. One would think that Brian Kelly and LSU’s big loss against Alabama (13-42) would have deterred Underwood from sticking to the Tigers, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

National recruiting analyst, Sam Spiegelman, took to Instagram to share thoughts on what’s ahead for Underwood. “The race for 5-star QB Bryce Underwood is nearing an end as the Early Signing Period approaches. After an official visit back to LSU, there is a strong sense Underwood will be a Tiger,” Spiegelman wrote. Underwood too has been giving positive signals about the Tigers.

Minutes before the Bama vs Tigers showdown, Underwood shared a snap of a $15,000 moissanite chain that had the LSU Tigers logo on it. The chain was custom-made by shopDLG, and it looked amazing. The Wolverines, on the other hand, are going to feel the heat.

While this is great news for LSU and Kelly, Michigan’s Sherrone Moore won’t be too happy. After all, the school has been trying to get him on board, and in October, they put together an NIL package of $5 million. Then in November, CBS reported that the school put together an offer that was almost double their initial offer. Even fans joined in on the bandwagon.

Earlier this month, Michigan fans flocked to Underwood’s high school game to see him lead Belleville past Saline, 42-7. Michigan flags were spotted in the stands and some fans even wore shirts that read, ‘Bryce and E Dot,’ which referred to Underwood and his Belleville teammate, defensive back Elijah Dotson.

Here’s the thing: Michigan needs the QB. Moore and his QB room have been all over the place, and he needs a new guy on the block. And if this wasn’t bad enough, we also need to keep in mind that Moore will also be losing out on a potential LSU WR as well. 4-star Derek Meadows was someone who could become the next potential flip if Underwood had changed his commitment. However, there is still one way Moore can turn things around.

Sherrone Moore needs to pick up the “you’re fired” hammer

Going from 15-0 last year to 5-5 is a lot to digest. When Jim Harbaugh left this team for Moore, no one out there could have foreseen the hollow shell that Michigan had become. Their entire 2023 season win was thrown down the drain when the cheating allegations came forward. With all the scrutiny, their wins stopped feeling legitimate.

Right now, with the back-to-back losses, it is easy to deduce that a lot of rival fans feel that the Wolverines could only win if they cheat.

But there is a way to change that perspective. See, recruitment is one angle Moore can follow to build up a fresh roster for the next season and make a comeback. Another thing he can do is fire the staff. This team was averaging more than 35+ points last season. Right now? They can barely go past 30.

Back in Michigan at The Voice of College Football, John and TJ pointed out that Moore has to get rid of his offense and defense coach. While Kirk Campbell and Wink Martindale are good, they are just not good enough. Campbell should be shifted to the QB coaching, and Martindale has to go.

This is the only way Moore can recover whatever is left of Michigan and then start a new era. The entire offense and defense depth has been all over the place. The run-and-pass game is a disaster, and the D-line fails to stop rushes. If Moore is still kept as the HC, he better get to work and revamp his staff.
