And every time it always goes back to that one ex who has been breaking your heart for the last 4 years and still you keep going back. For Ryan Day, losing to Michigan yet again wasn’t just “bad”. It was an astronomically sized mess up. How do you pull off massive feats throughout the season only to get wiped by a crippled UM team? “Fire Ryan Day” was all over OSU and, to make matters worse, the Bluebloods were bold enough to try to plant their flag on the home turf. How do you recover from all of this? Well, luckily, Ryan Day has it figured out. Because that one end-season reality check was all OSU needed to wipe the floor and chase the crown up to the Natty game.
“It’s a huge boost. It does eliminate the Michigan loss. As much as Michigan has that, you’ve got a national title, right?” Stanford Steve pointed out. Winning against ND and lifting that cup once and for all will lift the Michigan curse and even the “insane” Bucks fans know it. See, you can hate Day as much as you want, but you cannot sit there and say this man just didn’t give you one of the strongest years of Ohio State football. Leading up to the national championship game, OSU was a different breed.

So many came and all of them fell. Vols were the first to taste the resurrected North. 17 points only while the Bucks ran the gridiron and went home with a 42-pointer win. Winter came for the Volunteers, and it DID NOT spare them. Who’s next on the hit list? Ducks?
Yeah, got roasted in Pasadena. Barely 21 points on the board. But don’t let that fool you. Dan Lanning‘s Cinderella squad had only 8 points in the entire first half, while Bucks were throwing touchdowns after touchdowns and amassed 34 points in just 2 quarters. The entire running game was on a different level, and the Horns got a taste of it as well!!
Ever thought you’d see two 70+ yards touchdowns in a semi-final game? Yeah, well, Ryan Day and Co. made that dream come true. We still wonder why Will Howard wasn’t higher on that Heisman list cause this guy is a miracle worker for the Bucks offense. All of this, in a simple package, is getting delivered to Notre Dame today. So, do you think the Irish and Marcus Freeman survive this slaughter?
Notre Dame on the edge
If the Michigan loss was the resurrection potion for OSU. The North Illinois loss was the resurrection potion for the Irish. Freeman was trolled on the internet after the Irish went home with a disappointing 14-16 loss to the Huskies. But hey, that one game managed to change history.

It was a full-blown killing spree after that. Like you racking up the kill counts to get the tactical nuke in COD. Win after win after win. Freeman and the Fighting Irish were living up to their name as Notre Dame fought and clawed its way to the top.
And all of this while juggling constant injury scares and worries on the sidelines. This isn’t god’s gift. This was earned by the Irish through sheer willpower. Even when Riley Leonard got knocked out against Penn State, he still got back in that game despite being all wobbly and secured the final winning drive to push ND into the natty game.
While the Bucks are here on pure skill and roster advantage, the Irish are standing on the top spot on sheer willpower and the “We ain’t backing down” attitude. Facing Freeman in the gridiron could potentially be another Michigan game for the Buckeyes.
