The biggest game is upon us. After 10 thrilling knockout games and 10 teams bowing out of the competition, we are only left with two—Notre Dame and Ohio State. It’s a great time to be on the internet if you are a fan of either of the teams and cheering for Marcus Freeman or Ryan Day to lift the trophy. But your high spirits might get a dent soon. Why? If you are planning to buy a ticket for the championship game, you might be in for a rude awakening.
Notre Dame and Ohio have set up an amusing title game, as no SEC team made it this far. What’s more? They were ranked outside the top 4 teams and fought their way to the top. If look at both teams, Notre Dame has an impeccable defense, which could be best tested by Ohio State’s speed and physicality. However, if you want to watch their tactical game play out, you might have to at least shell out $2200.
Field Yates took to his X handle and declared the championship game’s ticket prices. You should know that these are the most expensive national championship game tickets, with the average price reaching $2637. But if you were to only get in, you still would have to spend $2208.

As the game is at the 71,000-seater Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the whole ticket revenue could turn out to be close to $187 million. While you can also expect other websites to slash prices and offer discounts, the prices will remain high. How will it affect the fans?
This steep price will prevent the most passionate fans from purchasing the tickets and enjoying the game, which in most cases will be students. Many of the students won’t be able to spend $2200 on game tickets. It also means that only elite spenders will register their presence in the crowd. This will also mean that Day and Freeman will miss some of their loyal base in the most important game of the game. But that is not the end of their miseries.

Why is Ryan Day on a heat seat? Because they lost to their heated rivals, Michigan. Despite him leading the Buckeyes to the final, some fans have pointed out the loss against the Wolverines as a soar thumb in their campaign. It even reached a point when his family received life threats. That’s not only it. The transfer portal saga, which began with kicker Jayden Fielding‘s question, has only intensified. They recently lost a freshman in Sam Williams-Dixon.
Whereas Freeman has a more glaring issue on his hands—injuries. Injuries to key personnel, such as Jeremiyah Love and Howard Cross III, have made the Fighting Irish sweat a lot this season in the playoffs. You throw into the mix the injury to tight end Cooper Flanagan during the Sugar Bowl, and you get a complete picture of what Notre Dame is going through. This time around, he has a long break to get his squad ready before the final game. But you never know.
