Can Michigan Wolverines bounce back next season without their star players? What's your take?

Michigan fans are badly missing the OG coach, Jim Harbaugh! Their 15-0 undefeated record from the 2023 season and championship title were some good old days. But what happened to them now? Falling from 10th to 24th position in the AP poll is wild! After their 17-27 fall to the unranked Washington Huskies. Last year’s champions are now at 4-2, and 2-1 in the Big Ten play. Sherrone Moore keeps saying, “We’re still figuring things out, but I believe in this team.” But analysts do not believe in this team, calling it a “dark period” for the Michigan Wolverines.

Analyst Darren, on the latest episode of his show ‘Darren Talks Ball’, shared his views on Michigan’s pathetic condition. More than their results this season, Darren is worried about what’s coming next.

“Don’t look now, but will Johnson, Mason, Graham, Kenneth Grant, you know, probably Jay Sean Barham, although he hasn’t played that well this season? Donovan Edwards, Olsen Loveland, they’re all gone after this season.” That’s crazy! Never thought that way. Even with such players, the Wolverines are struggling to find a foot in the season. And with them gone, who’ll take their place?

Moving forward, Darren didn’t hold back when talking about Michigan’s younger talent, calling out Tyler Morris, “And who’s coming up, who’s playing well on this team as a young player right now, by the way, that you really look at and think that’s the future of this program. Who is it? Tyler Morris. He’s been an absentee so far this season, as have all the wide receivers. By the way, maybe a little bit, Marlin Klein. I’ll tell you right now, there isn’t a single player in this offensive line that I really want playing again next season with the way the offensive line is played. And you take Josiah Stewart and Derek Morrell, by the way, may as well assume they’re headed to the NFL.”

All of it may sound like a blunt statement, but it’s pointing out the team’s deepening issues, as without its former players, what will happen to the program in the upcoming season?

Furthermore, Darren raised a question about Michigan’s defensive line. There are guys like Cameron Brandt who have not played much, and when they do, there is nothing exceptional. No one from the offense is making waves. There is TJ, a former three-star recruit, but he’s a little undersized. And looking through his maize-colored sunglasses and thinking everything’s cool! Darren lashed out, saying, it’s probably not!

Concluding his remarks, at last, Darren discussed Michigan’s future. He showed concern over its recruitment. The program has not recruited the top 10 classes for a few years, it’s going to cost Sherrone Moore a lot. Mainly, recruitment is also going to get affected because of the ongoing investigation over the sign stealing stuff. He even predicted this program is headed for a bleak future for the upcoming seasons. Besides, let’s look at Michigan’s blunders against the Huskies.

Sherrone Moore’s team against the Huskies

Have an interesting take?

Just a year ago, Michigan won the national championship after beating the Huskies. Look at it now! A program way below their standard, stealing a game against the national champions. That’s horrific. But yesterday, it looked as if the Huskies were avenging their national championship fall to the Wolverines. Fans still can’t get over Michigan’s 17-27 loss to the Huskies.

The Huskies slapped the Wolverines with an early 14-0 lead from a touchdown score by Denzel Boston and Files Jackson. Sherrone Moore then benched Alex Orji, pulled out senior Jack Turtle, and headed for a touchdown drive by Donovan Edwards. Until halftime, Michigan shined with a 45-yard field goal by Dominic Zvada and blocked one field goal attempt by Washington.

Colston Loveland of Michigan opened the second half with a touchdown drive. Moving into the fourth quarter, Washington scored a field goal drive, which was a 17-score tie. Afterwards, Washington forced Tuttle to fumble in their territory and punched a touchdown four plays later. This is a rough look for the program, especially Moore. Some things need to change immediately, and the program needs to make recruiting decision to keep the ship sailing in 2025.
