Time for some harsh reality check for the North Carolina fans! It has been only a year since Bill Belichick has put an end to his 23-year-long stint in the NFL. Now, if the Tar Heels fans are expecting their new HC to spread his NFL charm in college football, that’s not going to happen. Yes, Belichick might be the man with eight Super Bowls under his belt. Will that be enough to keep himself afloat in CFB? Probably not. College football is a whole different animal compared to the pro league, even for the GOAT. But hey, one thing is common, though: the Belichick trolls! He’s faced criticism for his age and personal life, and college football is going to give him a tough time, putting him under more mental stress.

Lately, Belichick’s contract figures have already been turning heads. The Tar Heels released their new HC deal, which continues through the end of 2029. At 72, the ex-Patriots HC will be making $10 million per season, though his official base salary is $1 million. There also remains a chance to bag incentives, including a $750,000 bonus if the Tar Heels reach the College Football Playoff. Not just this; if they win a national title, Belichick would be the proud owner of $1.75 million as a bonus. However, these visions feel like light-years away. Before that, analyst Bruce Feldman handed out a tough pill for Belichick to swallow.

On The Solid Verbal College Football Podcast, the FOX Sports writer said, “North Carolina folks and Bill Belichick can talk about, like yeah, it’s going to be like an NFL model…but like enough, people. I know who are actually been doing a job for a while…it’s going to drive him mad.” Why so? That’s mainly because of the recruitment and the player movement. The podcast host sounded an alarm for the Tar Heels fans, “Wait until he’s in seven high schools in New Jersey in like a 20-hour period.”

To which Feldman joined in, “Wait till he’s just, you know, like hounded by some player’s aunt who’s turned into the agent… you’re not dealing with CAA and these agents all the time. You’re dealing with like guys who popped up out of nowhere who are now, you know, trying to rep.” All these factors will be enough to cause mental stress. Player movement in college football is governed by transfer rules and eligibility requirements. The recruitment process is highly competitive, with scouts and coaches actively seeking the best talent nationwide.

However, he can take notes from Nick Saban’s personnel department as the GOAT won 10 recruiting crowns in 13 years. Otherwise, things are going to be tougher for Belichick. At 72 he will be competing against coaches like Dan Lanning and Lane Kiffin, who are in their 30s and 40s. As Feldman stated, “I think it’s different when you’re that age; once you I think get over 55, I think things start to get a lot heavier, right?” However, Belichick can see a silver lining.

Did Bill Belichick find the missing piece in his coaching roster?

For the first time this century, the New England Patriots will not have a Belichick on their coaching staff. Yes, one year after his dad and long-time HC Bill Belichick left the NFL giant, it’s time for his son to part ways. As per ESPN reports, the Tar Heels’ HC’s son, Steve Belichick, has been looking for a breakthrough somewhere else. He coached his last game as Washington’s DC in the Huskies’ Sun Bowl matchup against Louisville on New Year’s Eve.

Steve carries a good resume, having spent 12 seasons on his dad’s staff with the Patriots. In his final four seasons, he served as a linebackers coach and called plays for New England’s defense. He has already joined the Tar Heels staff as the defensive coordinator. It’s time to focus on Belichick’s other son.

Brian Belichick has spent the past five seasons as New England’s safeties coach; he will depart the Patriots as well. So, it’s obvious that there is only one question that is looming around. Will Brian Belichick follow his father and brother to the North Carolina coaching staff?

Bill Belichick did land Armond Hawkins as a cornerbacks coach. However, he is yet to have a defensive assistant for safeties. A dose of Belichick blood on the staff can be the perfect cushion for Bill in his high-stakes role
