Can Alabama retain WR Caleb Cunningham’s valuable commitment? The Crimson Tide currently ranks at No. 1 in the 2025 recruiting class with 23 commits. Cunningham is one of the five 5-star players that Kalen DeBoer has lured in his first year in Tuscaloosa. But despite committing to Alabama on July 13, he’s still heavily pursued by an in-state school which is Ole Miss led by Lane Kiffin. And yes, the interest seems to be mutual as the 19-year-old is going to be back for another Rebels game.

Caleb Cunningham will be one among the several high-prospect players who will be in attendance at Ole Miss’ upcoming SEC clash with No. 3 Georgia. Ahead of that, Josh Newberg connected with Ole Miss recruiting insider Zach Berry in a new YouTube episode on On3 Recruits on November 7 to talk about the Alabama commit’s future. Berry said, “One caveat about Cunningham is if you don’t know, he’s a hell of a basketball player so he is keen on playing his final year of high school basketball as well because Choctaw County’s pretty damn good because they’ve got Caleb Cunningham on the team.”

Caleb Cunningham is not only the No. 3 WR of the 2025 class but the 6’3, 190-pounder also plays as a guard in the Choctaw County Varsity Boys Basketball team. If he decides to pursue his passion for basketball, a new story could develop over the next year. But still, even if he decides to move on to the college level, he’s going to face a dilemma, as Berry observes.

Zach Berry believes that Caleb Cunningham’s decision could go down to signing day. He said, “I think this is gonna go down to signing day because this could be kind of an old school recruiting battle where he’s torn between two offenses, two coaching staffs, two schemes that he fits very well into and it’s going to be a tough decision for him.” Still, Cunningham’s upcoming visit to Ole Miss after multiple visits is a huge indicator that the interest is there

Hear it from the Alabama commit himself, “I can’t lie, Ole Miss is a great place to be. From the fans to the kids to the players to the coaches, everyone is cool. They know who I am there, that means a lot to me, and the love is real. Everywhere I go, they tell me to come to the Sip.” November 9 is an important date as the Ole Miss vs Georgia clash would assist in Cunningham’s decision-making process.
