Is Travis Hunter being unfairly overshadowed despite leading the Heisman race? What's your take?

The Heisman race became one-sided too quickly! Currently, Travis Hunter, the star two-way player for the Buffs, is leading the Heisman odds, surpassing Ashton Jeanty. It is clear that Hunter’s presence on the Buffs team has played a significant role in their strong performance this season. This was evident during the Buffs’ game against the Kansas Wildcats when they landed a bitter loss against them after Hunter’s exit. But now, when it is actually time for Hunter to shine, he is not everyone’s first choice for the Heisman or playoffs. Isn’t that shocking?

Despite all the efforts, there are still doubts rising about his abilities, and one more Jeanty supporter is on their way to overpower Travis Hunter’s aura. Today, CBS Sports analyst Damien Harris reveals his opinion on who is more valuable to their team, saying, “Without Ashton Jeanty, there is no Boise State in the College Football Playoff.” And here we are once again: Travis Hunter’s being simply sidelined despite his efforts!

It seems like Ashton Jeanty’s increasing fandom has been under Travis Hunter’s skin for a while now. A few days back, former NFL legend Johnny Manziel made sides with Boise State’s star player Jeanty and called him a better player than Hunter, saying, “Obviously, Travis Hunter is having a great season. He’s the favorite right now. I really think that it’s, you know, what Ashton Jeanty has been doing at Boise State has been, you know, as impressive as it gets, week in and week out, just putting up absolute numbers in the clinic, and you know, Boise State has a real chance to be able to make it into the playoff this year.” This statement perfectly aligns with the statement made by analyst Damien Harris.

But there is one thing that cannot be ignored: despite being injured and out of the game for some time, Travis Hunter still managed to secure the top position in the Heisman odds with +350 odds over Jeanty. This surely means something, plus this cocky rivalry is now taking such a nasty turn that even Jeanty has started taking shots at Hunter.

Ashton Jeanty’s growing belief can be a disadvantage for Travis Hunter

Well, we all know Travis Hunter’s desperation to win the Heisman trophy. Not only has he made his stand clear on winning it, but he has also proved that he can do something that no one can, but is it so? The answer is no. Ashton is also having a tremendous season in terms of his gameplay and execution.

Have an interesting take?

Even Jeanty believes that he poses more depth in terms of his performance this season than anybody else, and obviously, the figures are at Travis Hunter. During a recent interview, Jeanty said, “I feel like, for me, what I’ve been doing hasn’t been done in 36-37 years, so that’s something special. If I break a record that’s been around for 36 years, then I feel like you can’t compete with that.” This was a straight comparison with what Hunter is doing this season.

It is no joke that Jeanty is doing something that no one expects him to do. In 10 games, he has scored 1893 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns, which adds a lot of value to his career. However, Travis Hunter is also no less than a skyrocket in this run, with 74 receptions for 911 yards and nine touchdowns. But then again, with all this appreciation and support coming towards Jeanty’s way, he has all right to be fussy about it, but doubting Hunters’ gameplay will be just a mere delusion.
