Is Travis Hunter the next Heisman Trophy winner? Can he live up to the hype?

Travis Hunter’s probably the next messiah for CFB for something. This guy has it all at this point. With the performance he pulled against the Knights with 88 yards with 1 touchdown along with 9 receptions, Hunter solidified the fact that he is the next top Heisman contender. To think that Richard Sherman called this guy “bland” is wild. At this point, back in 2023, the Buffs were standing at a rough season. However, Travis Hunter has turned things around this time and earned the “HE12MAN” tag.

So, why not capitalize on it more? On October 2nd, Hunter took to his Instagram to share the new t-shirt design he came up with after his Heisman celebratory pose during the UCF game. “HE12MAN Link In Bio,” Hunter wrote in the caption of his post. The t-shirt comes in black with Hunter’s signature pose and the “HE12MAN” tag in gold printed over. Deion Sanders is probably on Cloud 9 right now. The Buffs have managed to get something done which probably everyone had thought wouldn’t be possible.

After the Baylor performance itself, Hunter was already marked as the Heisman favorite. The game-winning fumble during overtime gave Hunter enough exposure and after the Week 5 performance against UCF, the odds of him grabbing the Heisman have skyrocketed. Going into the Rams game (aka Rocky Mountain Showdown), Hunters stood at a comfortable +3500 odds. He was on the 12th spot on the ladder.

After his 2 TDs, 1 defensive interception, and 13 catches against the Rams, followed by the fumble against the Bears, and then finally 7 catches for 81 yards against the Knights, Hunter stands on a comfortable +1800 yards. This guy is going to New York at any cost. However, to give all the credit to Hunter would be a wrong move.

Even if you aren’t a Buffs fan, you gotta admit that the team has improved drastically as compared to their 2023 version. While it is true that the offensive line can be much better. They still managed to hold the pocket so well when the Buffs went up against the Knights. Every mistake the boys made against the Huskers was never repeated against Baylor or UCF. But the crown jewel would be the defensive line.

The cream of the crop for Deion Sanders

It’s a gamble. That is what most people had thought regarding Deion Sanders’s decision to bring on Robert Livingstone for the defensive coordinator post at the Buffs. Sean Kelly left for Auburn and Coach Prime needed something to revitalize the D-line.

Back on DNVR Sports, this was the main topic of discussion. “Coach Prime had a big decision to make, and he took a massive risk trusting the defense to a first-time play-caller,” DNVR pointed out. The risk Deion took to bring in some NFL energy sure did pay off.

Compared to last season, this time the Buffs have barely allowed 30 points on the defense. The team’s D-line can now stand neck to neck with a top defense player like Nebraska. Even against UCF, a team that is focused on their run-heavy game, the Buffs’ defense barely allowed the Knights to reach 30 points on the scoreboard.

The main goal was to cripple the UCF QB and RB and the Buffs nailed that perfectly. Going into Week 6 – 8 the main focus of the game would be how Deion and his boys manage to maintain the momentum. What do you think Coach Prime can pull this season? Could they end up in the championships? Do let us know.
