Florida State’s ship is sinking with little to no hope of surviving the season storm, to say the least. Mike Norvell, who penned a contract extension in January that pays him close to $11 million a year, has already been in the hot seat quite rightfully, invited more trouble his way after the latest fall of the FSU against Miami, leading to a super embarrassing 1-7. The Seminoles repeatedly failed to forge a comeback, while we have seen the other teams rise from the ashes even after a couple of brutal beat-downs. Now, you can’t blame anyone who sees it as a record in reverse for FSU as they consistently dropped the ba-l and smashed their pre-season glory of 12-0 as the first-ever team to do so in 70 years. However, the worst part is the team lagged far behind rival Michigan, whom they once used to be on the same page.
Mike Norvell totally doomed what fans and veterans expected from a class coach who toppled LSU twice, dominated the ACC, built a playoff résumé, and sparked eyeballs from Alabama. With a gap of a few months, he, unbelievably, became a washout. The reason might vary as per the analysts’ perspectives, but the endgame remains the same. When Marc Ryan put forward a sharp shade on the team’s unique record to the extreme free fall from pre-season, it could only come off as a bitter but much-needed reality check. FSU, for real, became the trailblazer in turning 12-0 to 1-7 within months.
Both Michigan and Florida State were 12-0 last season.
Since then…
Michigan missed at QB, and is 5-3.FSU missed at QB, and is 1-7. First team in 70 years to do that the season after 12-0 in regular season.

It’s not been a smooth season for Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore, either, especially how they keep struggling with the long-standing QB issues. They moved down from 15-0 and a national championship in 2023 to a grapple to become bowl-eligible in 2024.
But, even after every mess from QB shuffle, not-up-to-the-nark offense, and some massive blunder decisions, Moore still managed to keep it at a 5-3 which is pretty decent in comparison to the FSU fall. But regardless of the constant flakes, Norvell ain’t anywhere close to giving up on his approach and the team.

Mike Norvell remains highly optimistic about what they’re doing
Tough time comes to test us. Norvell, 43, takes his notion a little more seriously, which allows him to exhibit confidence even amidst the worst phase of a game. The Duke loss made everybody in the FSU camp frustrated except for the coach.

‘‘I believe in it. I believe in these players. I believe in what we do and how we do it. You have to evaluate all things, obviously. And it’s about the push of trying to go and get better. And, you know, I can’t allow these guys to get caught up in the record right now because right now, the record is what it is.”

While it may sound a bit over-the-top comments, especially when coaches usually come and make a cliche apology for whatever has gone wrong and flip from their previous positive stance, the credence is actually a good thing for the Seminoles. However, whether or not this deep-seated faith in his team and the philosophy they proceed with can turn the season better is a highly debatable take.
