What goes around comes around!” this fact is ironic, yet true. Florida State’s present scenario exemplifies this. Well, FSU paid Memphis $1.3 million to play in the guarantee game, adding salt to an already open wound. But the Seminoles’ season record fell to 0-3 after their 20–12 home loss to Memphis on Saturday.

Memphis not only won the game, but they also received a handsome payment instead of suffering an expected loss. The most intriguing fact is that Florida’s present coach Mike Norvell spent four seasons at Memphis compiling a 38-16 record; in 2019, he transferred to FSU. Six months after Norvell’s hiring, the Memphis game contract was signed, and the $1.3 million payment is due on or before February 15, 2025.

All three losses have come to unranked teams.” Well, this simply says why FSU’s fans became angry with their head coach, Mike Norvell. One fan noted, “Mike Norvell is a fired man walking,“. If he was fired, the university would have to pay him $65 million in lieu of coaching, or 85% of his base pay plus additional compensation through the end of his contract, which expires on December 31, 2031. Following such loss of FSU, another fan commented, “These buy games prices are always shocking. Even crazier to consider when it leads to a loss“.

To make fun of Norvell’s track record with Florida State, a fan stated, “Gotta pay more to guarantee the win.” Besides this, simply expressing anger on Norvell’s decision to fix the game, one fan commented,” What a fu**ing disaster.” Well, it’s easy to see why fans are frustrated. This isn’t the first time Norvell has struggled as a coach. With two losses in a row, he’s probably feeling the heat again, just like he did after a terrible 0-4 start in the 2022 season. And his move from Memphis to FSU wasn’t exactly a smooth one. As one fan confidently put it, “The ultimate payback for Memphis. Beautiful irony that this game made Norvell’s seat HOT.

Now the big question is: will Mike be fired from FSU after such a devastating decision taken by him?
