Hope you know that FSU had struck gold recruiting tight ends over the past two seasons and aimed to keep the streak alive in 2026. A four-star TE prospect was one of their top priorities, but Texas A&M swooped in to steal the show. Captivated by head coach Mike Elko’s electric personality, the standout prospect committed to the Aggies. “I love the head coach. I like his personality. He just brings energy to everything. He just brings the juice,” the TE shared. But with another program now vying to flip his commitment, that passion for Elko seems to be facing a serious test.

Steve Wiltfong recently dropped a bombshell on an episode of On3 Recruits, revealing that Hugh Freeze and his Auburn squad have a calculated plan to disrupt Texas A&M’s offseason—and it’s all aimed at flipping four-star tight end Xavier Tiller. “Auburn’s trending to flip the four-star tight end Xavier Tiller from Texas A&M,” Wiltfong stated. Under Freeze’s leadership, Auburn has consistently poached top talent from powerhouse programs, and they’re looking to keep that streak alive as they navigate the competitive waters of the 2026 recruiting season.

The insider gave further insight into Hugh Freeze’s drive to flip Xavier Tiller, stating, “We know the Aggies will do everything they can to keep him, but talking to sources who spent time with Tiller at Auburn over the weekend, they like where Auburn stands. He’s the guy Auburn’s in great position for.” And the most intriguing fact is that it seems the 4-star tight end is leaning in Auburn’s direction!

Over the weekend, he attended Auburn’s Junior Day. And he confirmed that the Tigers are still very much in the hunt, keeping their interest strong as the recruiting battle intensifies.

They fit very high for me. Auburn is very high for me still, they’re still in the mix. The way they use tight ends, I love it,” stated Tiller. He is ranked as the 10th TE in the class of 2026 and the 202nd-best player in the country. He caught 25 receptions for 344 yards and 3 TDs during his successful junior season with Langston Hughes. Over his career, he has captured 52 passes and 10 TDs. Texas A&M won’t back down easily when it comes to losing a top recruit like Xavier Tiller.

But ultimately, it’s what the standout TE wants that truly matters. His statement following his visit to Hugh Freeze’s Auburn could provide some clarity about where he’s headed. Stay tuned—his words might just hint at his next move.

Does Hugh Freeze’s program stand strong?

At a sold-out Neville Arena, Tiller recently had the opportunity to watch Auburn basketball defeat the Vols in an exciting contest. He was deeply impacted by the atmosphere, especially the steadfast support Auburn fans provide for all sports. The TE said, “They just support them all the way around. They’re Auburn fans.” As of now, this exciting atmosphere, which would have increased Auburn’s allure, has influenced Tiller’s choice to change his pledge.

The most unexpected development in this recruitment drama, however, is that despite Xavier’s dedication to A&M, Auburn TEs coach Ben Aigamaua has kept him as a high target. “Coach Ben (Aigamaua), we got a good relationship, I just love it,” said 4-star TE. Given their close relationship, Hugh still stands a chance of acquiring this talent.
