Name one head coach who has been more unlucky than Brian Kelly. Tigers had a good start to the season. Massive wins against Ole Miss and South Carolina. The two teams that went on to give Georgia and Alabama a lot of trouble. But boy, the moment they tanked against A&M, their good luck ran out. Follow that loss up with a massive upset against Alabama and then the Gators. Now, loss and wins will forever go in CFB, but what hurt Brian Kelly and LSU the most was how Michigan came in, threw some cold, hard NIL money on the table, and took away the country’s No.1 QB of the 2025, Bryce Underwood, from them. This was sad and funny at the same time.

But now, it’s starting to look like this entire omen which started following Kelly around after the Aggies game, is going to be faced by Mike Elko. See, Kelly has already lost his QB for the 2025 season. Follow that up with losing their 2025 WR Derek Meadows to Alabama. They need some real talent for the wide receiver room, so why not go for the same guy the Aggies are rooting for? “He was at A&M earlier this week, and a lot of buzz that says Texas A&M took control of that recruitment. But he’s maintaining dialogue with some other programs. LSU, one of them,” Steve Wiltfong pointed out on On3 Recruits. Here is some context: We are talking about WR Micah Hudson.

Kelly has lost Meadows, and with the NFL draft knocking at the door, LSU is going to lose WR Kyren Lacy and WR Chris Hilton Jr. to the draft. This would hit the WR depth in a bad way and could end up making the 2025 season harder for LSU.

Hudson left Texas Tech after a disappointing season. He ended the year with 8 receptions and around 123 yards. He could’ve done more, but he did not play a lot during the games. Red Raiders ending the year with 8-4 and no conference title appearance was a sign that Hudson would hit the transfer portal.

Now here is the problem. While Kelly is trying, will his efforts be good enough? We saw how easily Michigan managed to flip Underwood away. What is the guarantee that the same won’t happen with this entire tug-of-war with the Aggies? And when talking about the Aggies, don’t you think Hudson being with A&M makes more sense?

The Aggies ended the year with an 8-4 run, but they sure did leave an impact. Yeah, they lost their rivalry game to the Longhorns but still managed to put up points against one of the best rosters money can buy. That amounts to something, right?

Most importantly, though, for Mike Elko, grabbing Hudson would mean that he could form the perfect offense around QB Marcel Reed. With starting QB Conner Weigman having to call it off for a lot of the games this season because of an AC joint injury, Reed was brought on to put on a show.

And a show he put. Went for 12 touchdowns with over 1500 yards under his belt. In 10 games, he managed to prove that he is someone you should keep an eye out for. Now, if Elko gets Hudson, Reed will get the perfect partner for those long throws.

Yeah, Kelly could create something similar with the Garrett Nussmeier pairing, but seeing how that guy loves giving turnovers, it could end up being a disaster. Regardless, we still gotta wait and watch how this entire thing pans out. It kind of feels like whoever throws in the most money grabs Hudson.
