Is J.J. McCarthy the future of Michigan football, or is Davis Warren being unfairly sidelined?

Michigan Wolverines are in a tough spot with offense even after winning today’s game against Arkansas State with a 28-18 score. Michigan’s quarterback situation seems to be a constant issue throughout the game, and Davis Warren’s recent performance has added fuel to it. This season, head coach Sherrone Moore saw Davis Warren as a reliable option after J.J. McCarthy, but it looks like that was not the case.

After Michigan’s game, Rivals took to ‘X’ to talk about Davis Warren’s performance, saying, “How quickly things change in college football.” They added, “Davis Warren has more ints in two games than J.J. McCarthy did in 2023.” It looks like Shirley Moore was wrong about Davis Warren. Well, that is true. Last star quarterback J.J. McCarthy threw four interceptions, but this year, Davis Warren broke his record by throwing six interceptions in 72 passing attempts. Moreover, Davis was struggling to protect the football throughout the game. Well, it looks like Sherrone Moore made a recruiting mistake this season.

Well, Davis Warren’s high amount of interceptions resulted in several turnovers for the AR state. However, Davis somehow managed to complete 11 out of 14 passes for 122 yards, which is quite impressive, but that’s not the case as the Arkansas State Red Wolves defense managed to intercept his three incomplete passes. After this, Sherrone Moore benched him and replaced him with quarterback Alex Orji. However, even Warren’s lacklustre showing wasn’t enough for the Arkansas State.

Michigan Wolverines overcomes Davis Warren’s poor performance

Even with quarterback Warren’s Underwhelming efforts, the Michigan Wolverines successfully ended the game. Warren’s replacement, Alex Orji, threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to tight end Hogan Hansen, which gave Michigan a lead of 28-3 against Arkansas State in the fourth quarter.
