It’s time for some bad news, folks! The 2025 year has already been testing the patience of college football fans. But this news surely must have stirred them up. LSU Tigers freshman quarterback Colin Hurley got injured on campus. He got unresponsive and was immediately rushed to the hospital. Obviously, his friends and family, as well as the Tigers, are worried for him.  In that group of well-wishers, the now Michigan Wolverines commit Bryce Underwood is also there and has sent prayers. After all, the No.1 recruit knows how important Hurley is to Brian Kelly’s program ever since he left.

Already things are tough for the Tigers fam. After all, they had some expectations from their HC Kelly. Now that they are seeing the Notre Dame Fighting Irish under Marcus Freeman only a step away from grabbing the title, it might be leaving them with doubts about Kelly. Amidst such tumultuous times, bad news ushered in.

On January 16, Thursday, at around 2:45 a.m., Hurley was found injured but unresponsive after an on-campus car crash. According to WBRZ, the quarterback had a large cut on his face. Underwood too was moved by this alarming news. Within hours of the mishap, he shared his concern for Hurley on his IG story.

Back on November 18, 2024, the LSU signal-caller posted a thread of some memorable snaps from his time with Kelly’s squad. Re-sharing the post on his IG story, Underwood dropped some folded hands emojis, “🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.” As per the gathered information, the crash occurred near South Quad Drive and Highland Road in Baton Rouge. Now that’s very close to the gates of LSU’s campus. Quick actions had been taken, and Hurley was removed from his Dodge Charger and taken to a hospital.

Meanwhile, his family has released a statement that read, “Colin is resting and is stable while more tests and care are being administered. We are confident that Colin will make a full recovery from this terrible accident.” But even then, fans would continue to worry a little more about the quarterback. After all, Colin was the one they counted on after Underwood ditched LSU.

Underwood’s flip from the Tigers to the Wolverines might be still plaguing the LSU fans. But ever since his exit, there have been some interesting wrinkles. For starters, LSU now has an extra $1.5 million per year to allocate, whether it’s through the transfer portal. However, Kelly and Co. did not have much to worry about. Their star QB Garrett Nussmeier has made a return to Baton Rouge. Plus, they have a potential option for the future true freshman quarterback. That’s none other than Hurley.

Standing tall at 6 feet and weighing 213 pounds, the phenom from Trinity Christian Academy was also the No. 5 recruit in Florida.
