Did the Michigan Wolverines just tarnish their legacy with their Hurricane Helene insensitivity?

Well, no bonuses to guess that, Michigan experienced a backlash from fans just like Buffs and eventually had to take the same steps.

Michigan is up against arch-rivals Minnesota. Their rivalry dates long back, hence the game is already being eagerly waited by the fans. On Friday, the official X account of Michigan Football shared a graphic of a player standing with ankles dipped into water in Michigan Stadium with the caption, “Looking good in any weather”. However, within minutes, fans started trolling the post because of its offensive nature. After this, the account quickly removed the post! While being trolled is not new for these famous entities, the thought that what they posted was actually condescending towards the people affected by Helene must have got them to take it down.

If you believe that the situation is not serious, you are mistaken. The hurricane has not only killed around 40 people across four states but also affected the college football games. On Friday, Liberty and Appalachian State canceled their game, which was supposed to take place on Saturday. Unfortunately, the game will not reschedule, which is the worst part. As previously stated in the article, the Colorado Buffs made a similar controversial move, resulting in both teams being in the same position.

Michigan Wolverines and the Buffs standing on the same boat

It is difficult to comprehend the motivations behind both teams’ sudden and extreme actions right before their upcoming matches. The official X account of the Colorado Buffs also shared a modified image on their page, featuring palm trees and a knight’s helmet and sword floating at the bottom of the poster. Positioned between the sea, the player makes a strange gesture by placing his hands on his head, resembling a salute or some other unusual action. Displaying a sign that says “Beware of sharks” and taking a dig at UCF.
