Michigan Head Coach Sherrone Moore has been in the spotlight since the 2024 season started. Now, while the Wolverines prepare to face Illinois, not only he but his quarterback, Jack Tuttle, is also under pressure. The defending champions have not displayed their top game so far, which put head coach Moore under more pressure as they face Bret Bielema’s team today.
All of us are aware of the problems faced by the Wolverines this season. Jeremy Werner, Publisher of the Illini Inquirer, shed light on their defense and stated, “Michigan’s got a really good run defense, but they do have some issues in their second or in their pass defense so far, so for Illinois to win this game, they need Luke Altmyer to play like a top-tier quarterback, which he has so far this season.”
He added, “He [Luke Altmyer] leads Power Five quarterbacks right now in touchdown intercept and reception ratio at 14:1 so far, and he’s really made a lot of plays with his legs, whether that’s prolonging and finding his receivers downfield or just running for 90 yards and a touchdown against Purdue. So obviously Michigan, with two guys who are going to run first-round hit defensive tackles, Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham, and with Illinois without their starting running back, Kaden Feagin, they’re not going to run it up the middle and have success against this team.”
