Is Joel Klatt right about Michigan's coaching staff, or are fans overreacting to the Texas loss?

Contrary to expectation, the criticism that has been directed at Michigan football is real, and it is not only the rival fans giving them that. Still, reviews have started emerging that the Wolverines do not deserve their honorable position among the best teams in the country. It was only the other day that critics started cranking up major faults in their latest shows, and their current standing could just be some mirage. However, after gaining only three touchdowns in the last two weeks, in a game one of which they were only scraps, people are debating whether the Wolverines should even be part of the top twenty-five, or even the top ten.

Of course, the Michigan supporters would want to come to the defense of their team, but such criticism is warranted. “Michigan can’t find an identity,” said one observer, as the team has problems with quarterbacks and their defenses. Despite the rather bright prospects in the current Top 10, there have been terrible showings in the trenches, be it offense or defense.

The criticism of the rank of Michigan is on the rise. Some aspects of this greatly distressed all fans and analysts, with some considering the Wolverines’ current situation to be undeserved. They’ve managed only three offensive touchdowns over their last two games, with one coming when the outcome was already decided. Are they as efficient as Joel Klatt allocated them? With all this, it is not surprising that some people doubt the Michigan place in the top rank. One football fan commented, “Michigan should not be there”. The naysayers, don’t see your struggle, or the sleepless nights, all they see is the outcome.

In their second match-up ever, Texas Longhorns triumphed over the Michigan Wolverines, which had been ranked tenth in the country, by 31-12. Texas had a better passing game and, with a strong defense, had 389 total yards and 3 turnovers by Michigan. On their part, the Wolverines could not make the crucial plays leading up to a touchdown which only came in the game’s final minutes. This was Michigan’s first home loss in 16 games.
Some critics say that given their performance, the Wolverines probably wouldn’t be the top three teams in their own conference, let alone be the top 10 or 15 in the entire country.

While Sherrone Moore still has some shoes to fill, his team ain’t looking good. The situation, as the recent implication of three years of games, has produced only more controversy for the team. Such off-field issues are negatively affecting their on-field productions and are continuing to raise more questions pertaining to their qualification to be termed as a top team.  Comments such as, “Michigan should not even sniff a top ten right now” and “Indiana has more validity being in top 15 than Michigan, Michigan has had 3 offensive touchdowns in 2 games, 1 being in garbage time 😂”, only fueled the ongoing criticism.

Besides, the concentration has probably shifted to these off-field issues, which could have led to inconsistent results. It’s no wonder that Michigan might be in trouble of losing its crown with so much emphasis on legal issues. This, however, clouds the true position of Michigan in the hierarchy of college football, thus making it hard to determine whether Michigan deserves its noble place or its ranking is a fallout of other controversies that one can think of.
