Now that Sheroone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines are in a tough spot after losing the commitment from 4-star QB Carter Smith on October 28, Monday, you can know who can be the next. It is none other than Bryce Underwood, whose decommitment chatters just got louder. That’s solely because a competitor is already armed up and has already landed Underwood, the LSU Tigers.

Maybe it’s time for Moore to worry a little as Michigan insider drops in with the factors that might help Brian Kelly’s program to stop Michigan from flipping the high school QB away from the Wolverines. However, Moore has buckled up and got all ‘competitive’ with their NIL offer.

By now you must have got an idea why the Underwood craze is so real. After all, he is the top overall commit in the 2025 class. Now the competition surrounding the QB who is committed to LSU has come down to a Tigers vs Wolverines fight. On the On3 recruits podcast, host Josh Newberg had an important question for The Wolverine.com recruiting reporter, EJ Holland. “Have you heard anything regarding Bryce Underwood… if Michigan can match what LSU can put on the table?”

Holland started with a clear-cut opinion, “I still think money is more of a factor, obviously.” Even though in Underwood’s camp and in his family, votes will be in favor of him flipping to Wolverines because of the Moore factor, but still Kelly’s Tigers are still likely to win the QB’s heart. But how can he be so sure?

What’s your perspective on:

Is Michigan's desperation for a QB savior driving them to break the bank for Underwood?

Have an interesting take?

Well, Holland now banks on Underwood’s childhood dream. He recapitulated a conversation he had with the 17-year-old three years ago, “I first talked to Bryce Underwood as a 14-year-old. I mean, he told me he always kind of dreamt of going down south. I think he likes the culture down at LSU. I think he likes the uh just overall Vibe at in Baton Rouge.” Sadly, it won’t be easy for the Tigers as the Wolverines are set to break banks for Underwood.

Will Bryce Underwood be the savior of Michigan’s QB woes?

Better late than never! Moore has finally pounced on action to solve its glaring need for a quarterback. According to On3’s Pete Nakos, the Wolverines have offered Underwood “a competitive NIL package on par with what LSU has presented.” Well, we can get the desperation. Already Michigan has lost its fav coach Jim Harbaugh to the NFL.

Plus, their QB woes have been growing every passing day, and they have tried not one, not two, but THREE QUARTERBACKS for the center position, including Davis Warren, Jack Tuttle, and Alex Orji. But no one seemed to be quite promising. Now this makes Underwood an even more alluring option for which Moore has put forward a comparable offer in terms of the one tabled by Kelly. As per the reports, the QB is expected to earn approximately $5 million from Michigan. You must be wondering how being a debut HC Moore can take so much risk.

Well, at the moment the Wolverines do not have to worry much about their pocket since they now have funds ready to attract a new starting QB. All thanks to Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who promised to contribute up to $3 million to fill the gap helping Wolverine land a top-10 quarterback. Time to see if Underwood will follow the heart or the hard cash.
