The Michigan Wolverines were inches away from a loss at the hands of the Minnesota Golden Gophers due to the wide absence of all the crucial players from the team. While the Week 1 list saw several injuries, their match-up against the Gophers witnessed names like Will Johnson, Josaiah Stewart, Semaj Morgan, and Greg Crippen all benched throughout the game. Fortunately, the Wolverines clawed their way to a 27-24 win but their luck might run out against the Washington Huskies, who were their opponents in the national championship final game. The 2nd round of the boxing match will take place on 6th October but by the looks of it, the Wolverines will be packing a lesser of a punch.
The Michigan Wolverines have good as well as bad news. The bad news is that the defensive back for the team, Ja’Den McBurrows, is out for their game against the Washington Huskies on 6th October. The good news is that players like Josaiah Stewart, Will Johnson, and Makari Paige will be able to play against the men in purple and hopefully bring in their 5th win of the season.
Injury updates from Sherrone Moore: Sounds like Ja’Den McBurrows is the only long-term absence. Moore sounded optimistic that Josaiah Stewart, Will Johnson and Makari Paige would be able to go Saturday at Washington.

The Wolverines were riddled with a cause of concern when their starting quarterback Davis Warren was down for the count after a severe injury. Thankfully, the talent and the explosive arm of Alex Orji came in to save the day and proved to be a blessing in disguise against the USC Trojans last week. After what Orji demonstrated in the past few weeks, Moore would make the better decision by playing him as the starter, but the official order is yet to be confirmed. With that being said, here’s what the HC had to say in detail about the injury report of the team.
Sherrone Moore discusses the injury report of the Wolverines
The game between the Wolverines and the Huskies will be the first road game of the season for the men in maize and blue. But more so than the color of the jerseys, Moore’s face will be bluer since there are so many players injured who are a bit shaky to show up for their clash against Washington.
Moore gave the updates on several players’ physical conditions and said, ” Yeah, they’re all working through something. Myles is working through something, came out the game. Probably could have went back in, but held him out. And Josaiah and Will look like they’ll be in good shape for this week. [Ja’Den] McBurrows will be out. [Jaden] Mangham, he’s working through something. He could possibly come back. Wes Walker is working through something, but he’s not out long-term, no.” With all these injured soldiers, it will be interesting to see whether Michigan is able to pull off a victory against the Huskies, who will be coming to win against their famed rivals that snatched the natty from their grasps.
