Is Sherrone Moore the right leader to lift Michigan's spirits after such a tough loss?

From a 15-0 run back in 2023 to losing their second game on their schedule at a nasty 31-12. Oh, how the tables have turned. If you are a true Wolverines fan, you’d know that the moment Jim Harbaugh left to coach for the NFL, it marked the beginning of the end for Michigan. Sherrone Moore is an amazing offensive coordinator, there is no doubt about it, he revamped the team back when it was suffering during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. However, as the HC? he still needs a lot of time in the oven. From hasty decisions to losing their recruitment drive, we saw how Moore managed to tangle Wolverine’s legacy.

And now, Zach Shaw took to X on September 8th, to give us an update about the aftermath of the Longhorns game. “Sherrone Moore: “It’s a loss. We haven’t lost in a long time. Our kids feel it, they feel it more than anybody,”” Shaw wrote in the caption of his post highlighting Moore’s post-game comments. What is the point of regretting it right now? Every Wolverine fan knows the dull decisions the staff made this year. Even the starting QB was selected way too late. Picking Davis Warren as the starting QB made zero sense. Yes, we get that the kid is probably talented, but when you had someone like Alex Orji who had closely followed JJ McCarthy, why would you go for Warren?

We will cut Warren some slack. The dude managed to pull 2 interceptions and 1 touchdown against Texas. However, it was not enough. Jack Tuttle could’ve gotten Moore what he wanted, but the sudden injury cripple Wolverines’ plan for domination. Tuttle is currently going through a torn ulnar collateral ligament. This injury happened back in 2023 and is still haunting the QB. While seeing him in the 2024 season feels like a distant dream, Moore’s time with Michigan, ain’t gonna get any better.

No contract for Sherrone Moore

2 days back we got to know something weird. Moore was coaching without any proper contract. Michigan had stated that Moore was locked in with a 5-year term valued at around $6 million. The entire information was fake. This feels so weird. It’s like the entire bad karma because of the ‘sign stealing’ thing that happened last year is finally coming back to haunt Moore and the Wolverines.

A recent update from Bleacher Report did mention that Moore has finally signed today, however, the University is still waiting on finalizing stuff. We all know that the loss against the Longhorns will affect the contract in some way. Not only that, the entire cheating allegation investigations are still ongoing, and that too can have an impact on Moore’s coaching career. Sherrone Moore is probably going to have the shortest career as an HC. For now, Michigan fans can only pray for the best.
