Michigan fans leaving at halftime—Is this the lowest point in Wolverines' history?

The bad days make you realize what a good day is.” Unfortunately for Michigan, today’s everything except a good day. Everyone held a mountain of expectations from the Wolverines after their impeccable title run last season since they went undefeated before lifting the national championship. And yet, if anyone had predicted that the Wolverines would have trouble taking the score past 3 points, it would’ve sounded almost impossible. Well, it seems like today’s the day when the impossible comes to reality.

On 7th September, the Longhorns vanquished the Wolverines like it was a cakewalk. The reigning national champions had trouble moving the ball upfield and even when they did so, the Longhorns’ defense seemed impregnable to break through. So far, no touchdown has been made and the fans do not look too happy either. With faces buried in their hands, it looks like their dreams of a playoff might also be buried in the same fashion. Today’s upsetting performance isn’t sitting too well with the fans, and at this point, they’ve chosen to leave the battlefield before the victors can make their claim.

The national defending championship team is miles behind the might of the Texas Longhorns, and the fans are not happy about it. The Texans prevailed over Michigan by 31-12, and the hosts could not make any significant impact on their home ground. Things got embarrassing for the same team that went unbeatable last season, and this sort of frustration is leading the fans to leave the stadium before the game ends.

Have an interesting take?

This season was going to be a new era for Michigan since Harabaugh’s exit paved the way for Sherrone Moore to lead the charge but so far, it’s not looking too promising. Their season opener against the Fresno State Bulldogs was a good sign, but the Texas Longhorns were going to be the real challenge that would ensure a good future for Moore’s team. Unfortunately, they couldn’t claw their way out of this one and now, will have a lot of eyebrows being raised against them for the upcoming season.

Moore addressed the fact that this is the first loss that the team has incurred since last season and said how it impacted the players deeply. He said, “I mean, for us, it’s a loss. We haven’t had one of these in a long time so you definitely feel it. Our kids feel it, they feel it more than anybody, so definitely feel bad for them and how they feel, but we know on all sides of the ball, all three phases really, we got a lot to work on.” Onwards and upwards is how Moore will have to take this loss and hopefully show the 2023 side of the Wolverines in the upcoming games and defend their titles bravely.
