The college football season is nearing an end, but the excitement keeps running wild among the fans as the recruitment game is setting off to an unfathomable high. The programs have been striving to do their best to host the best talents across the nation and leave a good impression on them. With the final signing day being a month away, the athletes still have some time left to consider and reconsider their verbal pledges. Michigan’s 2025 class four-star safety Ivan Taylor, has his plate full. The No. 41 ranked in the country is a lucrative catch for a slew of SEC giants. But it seems Alabama and Kalen DeBoer have a clear edge.
“I think he sees it as a place that could be the best fit for him long-term. He’s been committed to Notre Dame, now committed to Michigan, but Alabama has hung around the entire time and recruited him as one of the top players on their board. I think when all is said and done, they get it done, have them in the class one, that currently ranks number one nationally per On3.” said ON3’s Steve Wiltfong on Monday’s ON3 episode.

The rumors surrounding Taylor flipping from Michigan to Alabama have been a recurring theme in the college football world for a while. Taylor was originally committed to the Fighting Irish until mid-2024. But he didn’t stop exploring his options, visiting schools like Michigan, Alabama, and more. Finally, the phenom has decided to bring his talent to the Wolverines camp. Now, it’s Bama’s turn to dazzle his senses again.
The Winter Garden (FL) West Orange athlete, sitting on No. 7 as a safety in the nation and No. 9 as a Florida prospect according to 247Sports Composite can certainly add value to the rousing Bama squad. He can fill the void in Bama’s sloppy secondary and make them more of a force to be reckoned with.
Despite DeBoer and the team’s hard toil, Taylor didn’t totally give up on the Wolverines yet. Maybe, his decision to flip hangs in balance, depending on how Michigan shows up for more rugged opponents ahead in the season. A spectacular win over Oregon might make him reinforce his tenure under Sherrone Moore. Also, Taylor’s strong bond with Courtney Morgan might be a barrier in his Alabama flip. But, still, DeBoer has his reason to be a happy camper.

A recent Alabama visit seemingly chuffs Ivan Taylor
Alabama is doing a great job on and off the field. But since there is always another side of the coin. After a statement win against the LSU Tigers, the Bama camp received bad news on their recruiting front. Four-star cornerback Dorian Barney announced his decision to reopen his recruitment as a highly touted player of the 2026 class. But come on, they are already the top recruiting school as per ON3. Despite a handful of their previous commitment left the stage with Nick Saban’s departure, DeBoer’s strategy seemed to work great as well. He convinced Keelon Russel from SMU to see through the prospect he could have with the Tide. Taylor, with the elite NFL Bloodline, might be his next flex.

The four-star DB Taylor was in the stadium during the nail-biting Georgia vs Alabama fight and he couldn’t get enough of it. The young prodigy utterly loved what he had experienced. Taylor said that the atmosphere at Death Valley was “absolutely electric.“
“He said the stadium was shaking. The environment, he just loved being inside the stadium for that one,” Wiltfong said, articulating Taylor’s response after the recent Alabama visit.
But, it’s pertinent to note that Michigan Wolverines also got a similar response from their coveted recruit on October 3oth when they manhandled Michigan State with a massive 24-17. So, the innuendo is far from final.
