Is Sherrone Moore the key to Michigan's football resurgence? Pat McAfee seems to think so!

With JJ McCarthy and Jim Harbaugh leading the team, the Wolverines picking up the cup last year made almost every grown man cry. However, now the team is in the hands of Sherrone Moore and there’s a heck lot of pressure. On the AP preseason polls, the Wolverines still stand in rank 9. Paul Finebaum back on August 13th had mentioned that Michigan is still being regarded way too high and they are still riding on 2023’s hype train. However, as we all have come to see before the season starts, Michigan always tends to shield itself from the public eye and avoid giving out any prior information regarding its practice.

So Patt McAfee takes center stage while Rich Eisen keeps his hopes high that Moore is going to nail it this year. On the Patt McAfee show on August 21st, Eisen was quick to point out, “Two teams that emotionally affect me to the point where I can’t be around other people…..Michigan football was one.” This made Patt excited. “Obviously the Connor Stallions Rogue agent Harbaugh who we are massive fans. I mean, massive fans of the way he built being suspended than Sharon Moore,” Patt noted. Last year was a solid run. Especially in the match against the Crimson Tide where Michigan was behind. Also, even during the entire sign-stealing scandal and Harbaugh getting suspended for 3 games, the team still managed to pull through without their HC being present on the sidelines. All of this made Eisen excited for the team’s future. “I can’t wait to see what Sherrone Moore is gonna do this year,” Eisen noted. While Harbaugh and McCarthy are not here anymore, you still gotta keep in mind that Moore has more than enough talent and skill to make it a solid run this year.

That man took over the team back in 2021 when it was struggling with its offense. He was also the acting HC when the Wolverines won the national championship. However, while the team is slowly making good progress, Moore on the other hand has quite a lot at risk. The entire sign-stealing scandal is still haunting him like a ghost from the past. The draft report has already mentioned that if Moore is found guilty then he could face the same show-cause penalty as Harbaugh and probably be banned from the NCAA for 4 years. Thats not all, another problem that is looming over his head is picking a starting QB.

Who will be Moore’s starting QB pick?

Back on August 16th, we found that Ryan Day had already picked out his starting quarterback for the 2024 season. Day decided to stick with Will Howard. This makes things very difficult for Moore. Standing at 6’4 Howard is a monster. That kid has already locked in 48 TDs along with 900+ rushing yards under his belt. This combined with Chip Kelly’s play calling will make the Buckeyes a strong force for the 2024 season.

The Wolverines on the other hand are yet to find a good playmaker. Moore has Alex Orji and Devis Warren on his crosshairs but picking a favourite would be tough. During an interview, Moore mentioned that he is still yet to think about who he is going to pick. The main issue is, that whichever player he decides to go with has to carry the 15-0 legacy that JJ McCarthy had left behind. Let’s hope we see some progress from Sherrone Moore soon.
