Well, Carson Beck rode the hype train as a potential No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. But then he flipped the script, moving to Miami. Everyone expected him to bolt for the NFL; instead, he stepped into Ward’s old stomping grounds. Now, fans had their fair share of doubts about Beck’s skills. And can we blame them? 12 interceptions – double the number of 2023 – in a season isn’t easy to digest. But now, things are looking pretty bright for him as Miami’s star wideout, Ray Ray Joseph, is already calling dibs on his new QB.
Currently, Carson Beck is pushing through rehab following Tommy John surgery, which is typically associated with pitchers. His UCL in the throwing elbow was reconstructed by surgeons, but this setback has not deterred him mentally. He remains focused, engaging in mental rehearsals, staying active within the team, and developing chemistry with his teammates. The objective is to make a full comeback by late spring or early summer. But that isn’t stopping him from making his team feel his presence. And talking about it in Inside the U, Ray Ray Joseph says,
“I love him, man. He is a great dude. He for the team, man. You can go to him and talk. He real knowledgeable. He got a lot of knowledge, man. Like, if I go out there and I run something and it ain’t as precise, he’ll tell me, ‘Hey man, listen, this right here, you can do it like this.’ And man, it works. So he do a lot of even though he is watching; he do a lot of coaching us and helping us get better. I love it.” Now, you can doubt his caliber and call his plays inconsistent, but you can’t deny the fact that he is the one who took Georgia through a playoff run.

Let’s face it: Georgia’s WR room didn’t help Beck maintain his rhythm. Beck’s performance declined in 2024 compared to his impressive stats in 2023. In that year, he excelled with 72.4% completions, 3,941 yards, 24 TDs, six picks, a 1.4% interception rate, 9.5 YPA, 13.0 YPC, and a 167.9 passer rating.
Then, in 2024, his completion rate dropped to 64.7%, yards decreased to 3,485, TDs increased to 28, but interceptions also rose to 12 with a 2.7% interception rate. His YPA fell to 7.8 and YPC to 12.0. Some speculated that losing Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey affected his performance. Now in Miami, Carson Beck has no excuses as he has Ray Ray Joseph by his side.
Plus, more than anything, Joseph is more than excited to work with Carson Beck, and he is happy with the depth, too. As he says, “I’m happy, man. I’m happy for the room. I’m happy for the quarterback room, and it looking good too. We’re working hard. We all just working hard, trying to bring it all together, just being one.” Now that Ray Ray is staying put in Miami, let’s see what he brings to the table for the team.

Ray Ray Joseph’s love and loyalty towards Miami
Look, Ray Ray Joseph didn’t need to stay in Miami. With Xavier Restrepo locked in as the Hurricanes’ slot receiver, Joseph spent most of his time as a backup and on special teams. Despite being a highly rated recruit from Miami Edison High, Joseph has not actively pursued a starting position. Even after the opportunity to enter the transfer portal and attract interest from other teams, Joseph opted to remain loyal to Miami. Now, with Restrepo moving on to the NFL, Joseph’s moment to shine has finally come.
Wondering why he stuck with the program despite getting tons of offers? “I came in with the mindset to work hard and compete, but honestly, man, whatever the coaches wanted me to do and needed me to do, I was going to do it,” Joseph said. He further adds to it, saying, “I’m a big team guy first. I’m not with the selfish stuff. I waited my turn, and I’m here to help everybody and get everybody together and get everybody on the same page.” In this era of NIL and the transfer portal, where players are switching teams for more playtime and money, he is the kind of guy coaches might die for.
Look, it’s not like Joseph isn’t a good player. This guy has 12 catches for 110 yards in two seasons at Miami, logging 135 offensive snaps. He’s aware that many players in his position would have entered the transfer portal. But as a self-proclaimed “die-hard ‘Canes fan,” he stayed. Talking of that, he says, “A lot of people just up and run when they feel like they aren’t getting what they’re supposed to (get). Me? I’m just loyal—loyal to the program, loyal to the process, just trusting the process, keeping God first, and just working”.

But the best part? Ray Ray Joseph and Xavier Restrepo had a solid run together. Joseph even admitted he learned a lot from Restrepo, giving credit to the guy who helped shape his game. He says, “I had a great dude in front of me. We competed, we competed, we competed, we competed. We battled each other every day. I got him better. He got me better.” It’s no surprise that Miami is fortunate to have him. Now, let’s see if Joseph and Carson Beck can guide the Miami team to a championship run this season.
