The Miami Hurricanes are on a roll right now. With their win over rivals Florida State, they went 8-0 for the season to lay down the marker. More than 66,000 fans watched Mario Cristobal’s team blow away their opponents at an electric Hard Rock Stadium. The win not only extended their fabulous start this term but left their visiting recruits impressed with one four-star announcing his commitment to the program and two more coveted prospects likely to follow suit.
8-0! The Miami Hurricanes are ruling college football, aren’t they? Head coach Mario Cristobal must be incredibly proud of his team. Saturday’s game was their biggest faceoff yet, but it didn’t look like it. They dominated their rivals, Florida State, from the start and extended their winning streak with a 36-14 victory. More than 66,200 fans enjoyed the game live from Hard Rock Stadium, and the Hurricanes made sure not to disappoint on homecoming night.
Wait! Five-star LSU commit DJ Pickett was supposed to be there in the stadium on October 26th and witness the Miami win. But he did not show up! Did he ditch Hurricanes? According to Izubee Charles from On3 Recruits, he missed the game because “it was his senior homecoming.” Although the Hurricanes have yet to hear from Pickett, they received three new commitments. National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman confirmed that former Myers Park cornerback Camdin Portis, defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright, and USC commit Shamar Arnoux have joined Miami following their recent victory. “The U was rocking on Saturday and recruits are energized by Miami’s trajectory as a program.”

“I wish [Oregon and Miami] the best, but I’m at LSU now,” Sports Illustrated reported Pickett’s statement after he joined LSU in July. “If you are a DB and Coach Raymond is at LSU, I feel that’s the right place to be. That tells you everything right there.” His statement is loud and clear. Still, Miami is fighting to have him in his squad. Why? It is simple because he is the No. 1 cornerback in America.

Pickett has strong ties with the Hurricanes, having visited them frequently this season. His first visit to the university was on August 31, when he watched his cousin Booker Pickett Jr. play for Miami. Despite these visits, his commitment to the Bayou Bengals remains firm. However, Mario Cristobal and his staff are expected to pursue him up until the early signing period in December. In the meantime, let’s get to know the Hurricanes’ three new recruits.
Miami Hurricanes welcome three new commitments
Camdin Portis is following in the footsteps of his father, Clinton Portis—a former Miami national champion and two-time NFL Pro Bowler. Camdin chose the Hurricanes over offers from Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, and Auburn. In his sophomore season at Myers Park High School, he recorded 18 tackles, 10 pass breakups, and two interceptions. After committing to Miami, the CB said, “Everyone was tuned in and you can tell this city loves Miami… everywhere I looked, I saw orange.” His father spent his three seasons in the Miami backfield from 1999 to 2001, where he completed 2,523 yards and scored 20 touchdowns.

Have an interesting take?
Wright is one of the coveted recruits for the 2026 class. He enjoyed his visit to Miami, which made him join them. He loved how they dominated the rivals: “I thought Miami dominated Floridia State. Big rivalry. I thought Miami handles business.” He is also impressed with the atmosphere and the coaching staff. “I feel very good about Miami. “I like it a lot seeing how everyone comes together in Miami to support the team,” he stated after he committed to the Hurricanes. Wright’s statement reflects how much he enjoyed his visit and he looks up to playing for them.
USC Trojans lost Arnoux! Head coach Lincoln Riley is recruiting at a high level despite 4-4 Big Ten results. However, four-star recruit Arnoux filled his commitment and joined Miami after their 8-1 record. Why not? Mario Cristobal has done some amazing work and he needs all the applause. With that, he also deserves the top athletes in his team. Riley’s team has lost four games so far and if we take a closer look at their schedule, it tells us their offense and defense definitely need some work badly.
