Home/College Football

Miami and Florida are entering the season under head coach Mario Cristobal and Billy Napier. As the longtime rivals are all set to meet again for their upcoming College Football season. The Florida Gators and the Miami Hurricanes will face each other this Saturday in Gainesville. But it seems the game is not the only concern for Miami’s supporters as their recent defamation act towards Gators has added fuel to a war happening ahead of the game.

Today on ‘X’ On3 sports posted about Miami fans’ recent action of marking their territory in Gainesville saying “Miami fans have invaded Gainesville ahead of Saturday’s matchup vs. Florida with ‘Drain the Swamp’ graffiti on the famous 34th St. wall🙌”. They also inked the city’s famous 34th Street wall, with Miami’s famous “U” logos on respective sides of the quote.

The Hurricane fans may have invaded in excitement, but Florida fans disagree with this disrespectful act. Seeing it as a flash point of aggression before their upcoming match. Gainesville is famous for its graffiti walls and no one has ever raised any objections to it. However, some local residents who are also Gators fans are gloomy about this latest addition to the wall.

Florida fans discontent over Miami’s action

A fan took to Twitter to show his dissatisfaction with the whole incident before the match. They started by saying “There’s so much to do in Miami” is the reason they don’t show up to home games, but somehow they got all the time in the world to paint in Gainesville 😂😂 mfs are goofy”. Even another fan agrees to this and mocks them saying “Miami fans will literally do anything except attend their own home games” Well that’s true to some extent, last year a Reddit source mentioned that “Miami fans always show up late with almost half of the 1st quarter gone empty!”

A fan straightaway declared the battle was on, saying “This means War”. Both teams go way back in time. Miami and Florida most recently met in 2019 at Orlando where Gators squeezed the Hurricanes with 24-20. Another user on ‘X’ stated, “They can’t even invade their own stadium” This rivalry between the teams is not just limited to football. It has a history that can be traced way bac across other sports too. A fan directly took a jab at Miami’s fanbase saying “UM fans are the worst”. Well, it seems the long-time-back rivalry has gotten fresh ahead of the season. It will be interesting to see if history again repeats itself or will it be a win for Miami Hurricanes this time? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
