Max Hurleman isn’t your average college football star. The Notre Dame CB dabbled between football, basketball, lacrosse and even track and field while growing up. Hurleman was the face of Wyomissing athletics and captained the teams of three sports. But, between all of this and his studies, Hurleman managed to deliver the newspaper in his neighborhood.
This started when Hurleman was just 12 years old; every morning at 5:30, he pulled himself out of bed and walked through his local area with a satchel over his shoulder filled with newspaper. Additionally, either one of his parents would tag along with their son for safety reasons, as he passed to familiar faces, dog walkers, and runners.
“I didn’t like it at first,” said Hurleman, “It was just a pain. Over time I’ve gotten used to it. I’m glad I did it, it gets me up, it forces me to go to bed earlier, it keeps me on a schedule.” As the student-athlete suggested this habit over time has helped him maintain a strict schedule, something a multi-sport athlete should have among his other habits.
