This offseason, Mario Cristobal ain’t messing around. He’s hustling like a trader on deadline day to get Miami ready for 2025. Even though they went 10-3, missing the playoffs clearly lit a fire under him. He’s already making moves after landing Georgia quarterback Carson Beck, who got roasted by Paul Finebaum for leaving Georgia high and dry. After all, Beck might have gone to South Beach more for his girlfriend than football. But Beck knows what he’s playing at. Now, the question is: what’s Cristobal’s big play for the 2025 season?

Miami is anticipated to appoint Ole Miss expert William Vlachos as an assistant offensive line coach, according to Matt Zenitz’s X post. A year following the conclusion of his collegiate football career, this Alabama native jumped right into coaching. Vlachos has bounced around the country, coaching at places like the Buffalo Bills, Ole Miss, and even back at his alma mater. He’s been all over the map! And let’s not forget, he had a pretty killer playing career too.

From 2007 until 2011, he played football for Bama. At Alabama, Vlachos played on two teams that won national championships. In 2011, he made the First Team All-SEC. He also participated in 48 Crimson Tide games. For a number of years, he was an important offensive guard for Bama.

According to CBS Sports and 247Sports, Vlachos will work with his previous colleague. Yes, Cristobal and Vlachos were once colleagues. The two coaches worked side by side from 2013 to 2016 for Bama. At that time, Cristobal served Bama as an assistant head coach and offensive line coach under Nick Saban. The Hurricanes are now a fascinating squad to watch and appear to be headed in the right direction.

In 2025, Vlachos ought to be a major asset to the offensive line unit. Not only this, Cristobal targets a 4-star IMG prodigy to safeguard Carson Beck in order to secure the 2025 dynasty. But Paul Finebaum still isn’t sold on Beck X Hurricanes.

The Carson Beck to Miami Hurricanes move is definitely a head-scratcher right now. We won’t know if it was the right call until we see him play this season. But let’s be real, Paul Finebaum wasn’t exactly thrilled with Beck leaving Georgia. The analyst didn’t hold back on The Matt Barrie Show when he talked about the QB leaving Kirby Smart.

How, I mean, how pis-ed are you if you’re Kirby Smart that your quarterback entered the NFL Draft and then Miami came and got him?” asked Matt Barrie. That’s when Finebaum brought up Caleb Downs. Remember Downs? The Georgia kid who had a monster freshman year at Bama with 107 tackles? He was supposed to be a Georgia homecoming story, but then he shocked everyone by transferring to Ohio State. Now, Downs is leading the Buckeyes’ defense into the national title game.

Noting that, Finebaum said, “The fact that Carson Beck didn’t stay at Georgia doesn’t surprise me. But the man’s going to the ACC after being the Heisman favorite in August at Georgia,” with a smirk.
