Home/College Football

Mario Cristobal ain’t playin’ no petty games this offseason. The Miami Hurricanes HC out here moving like he’s in an Amazon same-day delivery race, making sure Miami stays strapped for 2025. Mario Cristobal’s all in this off-season, after missing the playoffs, despite going 10-2. Fresh off landing Georgia QB Carson Beck—who, by the way, might’ve dipped to South Beach for his girl more than football—Cristobal’s already plotting his next big move to protect Carson Beck. His target? 4-star IMG prodigy. Trust, this kid’s got that dawg in him. No wonder why Kirby Smart and Georgia Bulldogs drooling over him.

Bereck Kolojay, a 6’5-ish, 312-pound O-line beast from Florida. Ranked No. 257 nationally and No. 19 for interior O-linemen in the 2026 class, the dude’s got every powerhouse school blowing up his phone. Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Ohio State—you name it, they’re all in his DMs. But Cristobal’s not the type to back down. Nah, he’s the type to double down. He knows Carson Beck needs a fortress to keep him standing tall, and Kolojay could be that brick wall Miami needs in the deep trenches.

And let’s be real—Cristobal’s got a chip on his shoulder. The Hurricanes went 10-2 last season, but missing the playoffs was like showing up to a party just as they’re turning the lights on. That’s why he’s out here cooking up a roster so loaded, it might just break the SEC’s stranglehold on college football. Bringing in Beck was the first step. Now, Cristobal’s out here securing the bag to make sure his new QB doesn’t spend half the season picking turf out of his helmet.

But hold up, Cristobal ain’t just about offense. Nah, the man’s got his eyes on the other side of the ball, too. Sliding into the ‘contact period’ like a boss, he pulled up to Fort Myers High to check out 2026 4-star defensive lineman

Mario Cristobal visits 4-star D-line prospect from Florida

Kendall Guervil’s the type of player that makes offensive coordinators wake up in cold sweats. This 6-foot-3, 280-pound wrecking ball ranked somewhere No. 160 nationally and No. 15 at his position. The kid’s got hands like a grizzly and a motor that doesn’t quit. He’s already vibing with Miami, too, shouting out Jason Taylor’s coaching: “It’s an exciting environment, and overall the coaching, they have a great coach with Jason Taylor and I love how he runs his program over there. It’s kind of similar to the things we do at my school, and I feel like I could adjust to the things they run over there.” Sounds like Guervil’s already picturing himself rocking that orange, green and whatnot color they got.

But don’t get it twisted—FSU’s not letting this kid go without a fight. The Gators are in his ear heavy, trying to keep him home. Cristobal knows he’s gotta hit all the right notes if he wants to lock this one up. But if there’s one thing Mario’s good at, it’s closing deals like a Wall Street shark. Need receipts? Cam Ward.

Look, the bottom line? Cristobal’s out here tryna building a squad that’s got the whole country sweating. Are they scared? Probably not. Miami ain’t scaring anybody. But gotta admit, everybody’s keeping tabs on Mario Cristobal’s moves though. First Beck, now chasing Kolojay and Guervil—this man’s cooking like he’s auditioning for Top Chef. Miami fans, y’all better start clearing your calendars for next fall. It’s either another 10-3 or 11-2 season for Miami. Either way, Buckle up—it’s finna get real (not sure) in South Beach.
