For once, everyone can agree that being the jack of all trades is good!! Dealing with the Bucks won’t be easy and the Vols, Longhorns, and Ducks found that out firsthand. 3 major back-to-back games where Ryan Day and Co. were pretty much the underdogs. And hey, we don’t blame them. The Michigan loss was a bad look, but the North came in strong and hard. The SEC defensive talents were the first ones to fall. The best defense in the country, who? Day and his squad took away 42 points against Tennessee. “When people ask you what happened here, tell them the North remembers.” Who came next? Dan Lanning and his Cinderella story…

“Playing for clicks” huh? Look how the tables have turned. Barely 21 points? Seriously? And these guys went undefeated all year!! Man, we were scared for Steve Sarkisian, and well, our fears did come true. 14 points. A million-dollar roster couldn’t even crack the 20-point mark. How do you even deal with this? “It’s a real grind right now for Notre Dame. They’re not getting a ton of push-up front. Love isn’t healthy… I don’t think Leonard is just gonna will them through,” Dalton Wasserman pointed out. The Irish golden story is ending before it even started, folks.

See, in Marcus Freeman‘s defense, Notre Dame has one of the best defenses in the country, but that’s it. With Jeremiyah Love‘s knee injury, the running game has been a slogfest. Yes, they won against Georgia and Penn State but that was solely because of the turnovers and fatal flaws from the Dawgs (Carson Beck missing) and Lions (the drop near the endzone during the final minutes).

Bucks, on the other hand? They have been dominating the offense and the defense. Vols, Longhorns, and Ducks were barely allowed to go past the 20-point mark. The average rushing yards on all 3 of these games combine to barely 210 yards in total (And we haven’t even taken into consideration the -23 yards from the Ducks’ offense).

“Tell them Winter came for the Volunteers.” We will not be surprised if the same fate awaits the Irish, but is there still a silver lining? No use in beating the dead horse, but Freeman still has to try. There is a natty on the line.

Does Notre Dame survive the Bucks onslaught?

The “no conference” underdogs vs the $21 million roster. Doesn’t paint the best picture, huh? From the top, the Bucks have an NFL expansion team in their pocket. Will Howard has clawed to the top QB position, and Jeremiah Smith runs the football like his life depends on it.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Notre Dame's defense withstand the Buckeyes' relentless offense, or is another upset on the horizon?

Have an interesting take?

For ND? It’s all about stopping the run game. See, we know that Freeman will come up with something to stop Smith and the OSU running game, but what about the passing? That answer lies with the Michigan game tape.

You pressure Will Howard too much, and he will fumble the football. When Day went up against the bluebloods, he made the mistake of going too physical. How did that end up? 13-10 loss. It’s not like we haven’t seen a one-trick pony beat the Buckeyes before. Sherrone Moore did it with a crippled quarterback room.

Compared to them, Notre Dame has a much better squad. Riley Leonard cannot make the same mistakes he did against Penn State. Those 2 interceptions almost cost the Irish the game against the Lions. You keep the pass game precise and run the football when it’s needed, and maybe you can get out of OSU’s jaws.

But if Chip Kelly runs his play-calling and the Bucks get even an inch of opening? Yeah, touchdown.
