You’d think that a one-sided playoff run and Ryan Day would be out of danger? The thrashing of Tennessee, followed by a thumping of Oregon, and then getting over Texas. Just one step away from the ultimate glory. Is it really that bad if you lose the national championship game? Yeah, we know what happened in “The Game”. But that humiliating 10-13 loss to the Wolverines seems forever ago now. Of course, the Wolves will always hold their four back-to-back wins against Ryan Day’s teams, even if the latter takes the national championship crown off Michigan.

Having said all that, you know the Buckeyes faithful. Fans are fans. It starts with a hashtag, a Reddit thread- the narratives move to the First Take, you have analysts calling for your head, and it’s all over. That’s how these things happen. Ryan Day will return to the backlash’s flux again, especially when critics like Rich Eisen are already drifting their plan to distract the OSU coach.

Notre Dame will look to end their breakout season on a perfect note, with Marcus Freeman sitting at the helm of a historic turnaround. Despite the argument of having an edge over the schedule, the Fighting Irish fought their soul off to reach here, and they are not ready to let it go at any cost. Former Notre Dame head coach Lou Holtz has had their back and vehemently wants a beautiful reprise of what he did in 1988. The first national title for the Irish! Freeman is showing every sign, and Holtz is just trying to help his successor by peeving the opponent’s coach.

The 88-year-old Holtz recently noted that he is going to attend the pristine night in Atlanta on January 20th and threw some shade at Day in the process. “If Notre Dame doesn’t win, it’s because we want to preserve Ryan Day’s job,” Holtz said on his recent appearance on the Pat McAfee show. “I was originally going to be at the game in spirit, but now I’ll be dragging my body along as well.”

Chiming on to the comment, Michigan loyalist and a veteran football person in his own right, Rich Eisen, demanded some salt to rub. He basically vouches for a former-current coach’s cooperation to get Ryan Day piqued even more. In a bombshell confession, he said, ‘‘Lou Holtz is fantastic. It’s one of, by the way, some of the best television that’s out there, and if I’m Marcus Freeman, I’m reaching out down, you know, downstate to see if Pat can get him back on the air just anything to get in Ryan Day’s kitchen.”

The skirmish between the two head coaches started a few weeks back. During an ESPN show, Holtz claimed Notre Dame is way more physical than Ohio State, and they are going to win the trophy no matter what. The cocky prediction essentially got Day ticked the wrong way. After grabbing another playoff win, Ryan Day fired back, “I’d like to know where Lou Holtz is right now. What he said about our team, what he said about our team, I cannot believe. This is a tough team right here. We’re proud to be from Ohio. It’s always been Ohio against the world.”

Now, Holtz will have the chance to do the funniest thing ever come January 20. Marcus Freeman would hope the Notre Dame legend can just do enough to get under Day’s skin. We already saw on November 30th what happens when Day is an uncomfortable space. The offense doesn’t get going, decisions get shaky, and you lose despite being a three-TD favorite.

Irrespective of the debate, Day needs to be hypervigilant about any mistake on the final day, at least for the sake of his family.

Ryan Day seems furious to win the trophy despite all the odds

Ohio State has a bigger roster advantage in the national title game. They will head to the fight with a dozen of five stars in their team while Notre Dame will have to depend on their one and only Jordan Faison. however, they have their key difference makers: Riley Leonard, Jeremiyah Love, Xavier Watts, and many others. So, the natty dream is not far-fetched.

On the flip side, Day has a bigger purpose: winning it all. Ohio State coach Ryan Day has undergone a tumultuous time in recent months. Day garnered a lot of flakes in his 6th-year tenure at Columbus, which was quite justified on the ground that he couldn’t sustain the big game. But he led his team to a college football final. Getting death threats as a reward is something not done.

A bunch of lunatic fans put Ryan Day and his family on notice a few weeks back. If he misses in the title game, they will again launch a nasty attack on him. Day knows it well. In a recent interview, he assures that he can do everything when it comes to family. So, expect nothing but a fiery clash between the two powerhouses this Monday and hold your breath to see who will have the last laugh.
