Marcus Freeman, a former linebacker himself, has come a long way. This Notre Dame head coach, who once dreamed big with the support of his parents, Michael and Chong, is now on the cusp of history. After leading his team to victory in the Orange Bowl, he’s one step closer to becoming the first Black head coach to win an FBS national title. Now, he faces Ohio State in the ultimate showdown. With an estimated net worth of $24 million in 2025, it’s easy to get lost in the ‘sudden wealth’ fantasy. And for Freeman?

Well, Freeman’s childhood and life experiences have a significant impact on his philosophy of life and coaching. He cherishes his multiracial roots. He’s the son of Chong, a South Korean mom, and Michael Freeman, an Air Force veteran. He has got a strong work ethic and a sense of discipline from his father’s military background, which he incorporates into his coaching style. Both in his personal life and on the field, Freeman stresses the value of being in the present and living in the now. Success, in his opinion, is a result of seizing each moment and remaining committed to the process, rather than obsessing about the results. And so, as a coach and a family guy, his lifestyle demonstrates a dedication to setting an example by emphasizing fitness, health, and being in the present.

Marcus Freeman, the Notre Dame head coach, calls Granger, Indiana home. This charming town, nestled in St. Joseph County, offers a peaceful and family-friendly atmosphere. In 2021, Freeman and his family settled into a stunning 6,500-square-foot home, aka The Indiana Mansion, shelling out a cool $1.2 million for the privilege.

Built in 2019, the two-story house boasts six bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and likely a finished basement. Sitting on nearly three-quarters of an acre, the property features an attached garage and ample space for the Freeman family to enjoy. While details about the interior remain private, it’s safe to assume this modern residence is equipped with all the bells and whistles.

Granger’s location offers convenient access to the University of Notre Dame, making it the perfect base for the busy coach. And speaking of luxury, Freeman’s lifestyle certainly reflects his success. Aside from his impressive home, he’s known to cruise around in a $5 million Ferrari. His watch collection is also rumored to be quite extensive, though the specific details remain under wraps. It’s clear that Coach Freeman is living the good life while leading the Fighting Irish to glory.
